Hi Carla
First of all sorry to hear about your predicament and my thoughts are with you. I cannot believe that your mum wants to "teach you a lesson" does she not know about the financial state the world is in and as Ruth says most parents would be proud that you have achieved something and try their best to let you keep hold of it all. I'm sorry that the CAB wasnt more helpful where I live they have been great. Did the solicitors give you a time frame of when they are going to be in touch as this situation should be classed as urgent. Why not ring your local DHSS explain the situation to them, about your takings, eviction, they might be able to help. Try ringing some charities, there will be some out there that deal with these problems I'm sure. I've had a quick look on the web for you and found the following links that might be of use to you. What to do if you can't pay your rent Shelter England - The housing and homelessness charity http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/d_rent_arrears.pdf http://www.communitylegaladvice.org....09_08_REV3.pdf Try not to worry, I know this is easier said than done but its counterproductive. Thinking of you ![]() anne xx |

Sweetie don't sell everything! Keep enough product and equipment that you can still offer services, you don't need a salon to offer treatment and if you've read other threads then you'll see that there is demand in the mobile market.
Keep what you need to treat clients, sell the rest to help sort out your rent arrears and start fresh for 2009. Maybe get a part time job in another salon and freelance the rest of the week? Don't give up, as one door closes another opens

Carla do you pay yourself a wage (please say no)
if you can show that the takings in the salon will not cover a wage for you, you can claim working tax benefits and housing benefits (even if you rent private) they will only pay up to £75 per week towards your housing rent and if you work full time hours you should get around £49 per week to live on, you can phone working tax credits and they will give you an estimate as to how much you would get, i hope this info helps you to get some much needed funds to help keep your head above water and your salon open

What a horrid thing to have happen to you and your partner.
My Paul's problems were physical, but had the same devastating effect on our income and security. Private renting is so expensive, it does my head in every time I hear the govement go on about new builds, what we need is more council stock not more new houses that banks don't want to lend anyone money to buy. They just don't seem to get the fact that the same people are buying up these houses and then renting them out to the private sector for huge amounts Anyway my thoughts and prayers are with you and yours and I hope for a positive out come for you

carla hun, thank u for getting back to me today. I was so sad to hear your predicament especielly as u have such young children.
I no u said hubby is allot better now and keeps getting refused work due to his medical records. Obviously the jobs such as driving i can understand it as specific medical and health checks need to be carried out for him to be safe on the road. But as for other jobs such as tesco or working with computers (they are just examples) If they were to pose judgement then they would seriously get into trouble under the disability discrimmination act. In regard to your rent as i explained you will not loose your home unless you do not pay the agreed amount of £1.00 week for example to reduce your areas, the same with your council tax . Just remember hun that rent, mortagage, council tax, electric and gas are what are known as priority debts. They have to be paid no matter what. These can evict you or send u to prison Non secured loans or catalogues or visa are what are known as non priority. If you can not meet these payments do not worry u can pay as little as a £1.00 with all interest stoped and charges depending on your overall income.( they will threaten u with bailiffs and allsorts, but these are all bullying techniques and if was taken to court which is the only way they can come to your home, is the court would look at prioritys first, food, clothes that kind of thing and only what is known as surplus will be divided amongst any creditors u have and that is if u have surplus. I know that these arreas have built up as you were claming and did not realise u were entitled to what you were getting as u are working. Also that family tax is being paid on a 0 income basis as they are not aware you are bringing an income. So u need to contact them explain what the salon is taking and then your benefits will be calculated. Because your husband is not working as yet and is well enough to return to work the family tax will not pay for child care costs at this stage, untill he goes back to employment. But you can not get a more qualified person than there dad and i am sure this will save u in the long run. You will according to your income be entitled to some housing benefit and council tax, the hours u work pays no relavance hun ( Have a look at the gov guidliness on here that will explain more, including a family tax calculater letting u no what u will get) In regards to your business you are currently working at a loss hugely. So u have two choices, close the shop so u have no rent and the clients u have made today go mobile to them. Or start again and sell your self. I no many have made donations to u to help you out through such hard times, ( We have some amazing geeks on here with hearts of gold) I can not give u a donation as i am also feeling the pinch especielly with santa coming soon. But i am more than happy to introduce u to intamate waxing as i explained on the phone, which will give u an edge above the rest. Hun i wish you and your family all the look in the world and a wonderfull christmas. U will come through this a much stronger person. U just need to get on that phone and find out for your family what u are entitled to. If i can help in any other way give me a ring and i will do what i can love jenny
