I've just seen on Newsnight that M.P's have given themselves an 8% payrise.

The Police were given a 2% payrise which actually works out at 1.9% because they have refused to backdate it. Local Authority workers were balloting on strike action last year as they were told they could have no more than a 2% payrise, council tax is rising by far more than 2%, as are other commodities such as fuel, mortgages etc.

My husband has had to drive down to Nottingham this morning and has taken my car since we are a bit short of cash at the moment and my little Seat Ibiza will guzzle less petrol than his Saab.
