Another disappointing Shellac experience ... from CND Approved Salon :(

So I'm having an awesome time here in NYC. And after the disaster of my last Shellac service I thought I would take advantage of the CND Shellac Certified Salon finder.
So I did some research, found one that looks good, bit more expensive but a nicer environment etc - $55. Called, booked in.
Once again I was so dissappointed with the service. So the Shellac looks good - Negligee, lovely colour and good application. But two things stood out for me with regards the treatment:
1) No Cool Blue or any hand sanitiser product used.
2) Natural nail was buffed prior to application.
3) Tech actually said to me "Shellac is great, it damages the nail slightly - not as much as Acrylic but it does a bit. Can leave them dehydrated."
4) End of the treatment a generic hand cream is applied ... from a, no joke, Cuticle Away bottle!!
And once again I don't feel I was given a good enough "salon experience". I arrived - just pointed down to the coat check and seating area. Tech arrived and hardly said anything - just asked to confirm treatment and colour choice. After filling the nails on the first hand she thought to ask if I'd like a drink.
At the end absolutely no aftercare advice or product recommendations. Finished, and then no words - I was just expected to get up and pick up my coat from the check and pay.
At checkout I wasn't even offered the opportunity to tip, no comment about how I enjoyed my time in the salon.
Once again made to feel like a completely unwanted customer.
And all this from a CND approved / endorsed Salon. Seriously, one day I will find a great salon that understands how to treat clients, particularly guys.
Just as soon as I can start to convince ladies to come and see me for treatments the better. Maybe then people will realise what a Salon experience is supposed to be like!

Come to Divine Designs in Brandon, Florida, Matt, and ask for me!
You would have been met upon entrance by our experienced concierge who would have checked you in and asked if you wanted a beverage (including wine or champagne
). I would have come out, greeted you and brought you back to the nail spa where you would have experienced a proper Shellac treatment with real CND products in their proper containers! Afterwards, I would have explained aftercare as well as given you an aftercare sheet and offered you products to maintain your manicure. I would have asked you if you liked your service then I would have escorted you back to concierge who would have asked you, again, if you were happy with your services for the day.
That's what 5-star service is all about.Posted 30-01-12 at 09:14 PM by gr8nailz

Now I feel really bad I didn't pass on your details to my visiting from Florida client last week Tammie!
OK I don't do Shellac, but I certainly offer better client service than where you were Mat, knowing all about your products, following the correct procedures and giving good aftercare advice is paramount in a good service.
Oh and a good, friendly bit of banter usually brings them back too!Posted 31-01-12 at 11:16 AM by izzidoll

This is the first year that Milton Keynes college is including a client care module in the Btec beauty therapy course, in large part due to the comments that tutors have seen on salon geek regarding college trained therapists. Today we had a lesson with the college salon manager about the receptionist duties because we will all be spending 4 hours each on reception duty. We already have live clients of our own each week and the service we give is of a higher standard than you have received. We don't offer Shellac at the college (yet) but male or female, you would have a better experience with our manicure (or any other) service. If it's ok with you, I'm going to print out this page to take into college to show the girls, between your experience and the service on offer from Gr8nailz I think it's a shining example of the right way and the wrong way to treat a client. Good luck with your hunt for a first class service Mat. xxPosted 01-02-12 at 12:18 AM by Susie H

not as 5* experience as tammie's I.e. No champaign but all cnd stuff in their proper containers. Proper consultaion card, aftercare advice, receipt and some home care products if interested. Taking coat off and hang it for you, help putting flipflop on for freshly painted toe nails. Offer Blanket and heated wheat bag if you are cold. freshly cleaned cloak room and misted with natural room fragrance or sometime an incense stick.
