Really not nice

It was in the paper over the weekend that a man who lives about 6 houses away from me has been charged with possessing images of children, and even worse 20 charges of creating images. This man lives next door to my daughters play friend, right next to the childrens play area and he has a video camera in his window. Get this though although concern about the video camera has been raised with the police (who are now at the house protecting him) they will not make him take it down
.
What do we say to our children?? I have already told them that they can't play out (tbh they couldn't go out much now in the week anyhow as it get dark so early) but they will NOT be playing there at the weekends for the foreseeable future. I have said that they can have friend in instead.
It is really not nice knowing that this man is so close.

Oh my god....he'd need protection as well if it was me or my children. I can't believe we protect our criminals and yet not do anything to stop the abuse of the victims. We live in such a namby pamby society nowadays. No wonder most people are thinking strongly about whether they really want a future in the UK. Oh and while we're at it, when he's actually found guilty lets tuck him up in a nice private cell lest someone gets upset with him there, with SKY TV, a nice DVD player and playstation and cosy heating....all at the taxpayers cost of course. GRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!Posted 26-11-07 at 11:00 AM by Zingara

My kids know to a degree why I am over protective of them....why they are not allowed to play out etc (other than on the path on the front) but in your case babe,
even that wouldnt be close enough....its that discusting...this world is sometimes....oh well off to pick my kids up and look at all the flowers again that still cover the gates from the 2 little boys who were killed on the moterway a few weeks back.....

Everything is just topsy turvy these days. You can't take a picture or film a video in a shopping mall or airport without security coming to check what you are doing and check what you have filmed, just in case you are a terrorist. Yet it is OK to set up a camera to film young children playing even when you are a convicted sex offender......
I just don't get it.!!Posted 26-11-07 at 03:23 PM by izzidoll

It just makes me so angry, I to was called an over protective mum, but they are healthy, caring, thoughtful adults now, quiet often on the bus routes we see young children running around the streets without any adult or older child supervision after dark and I often think, do the mums and dads think its so easy to have kids that you don't need to look after the ones you already have? A sort of, never mind give it 9 months and I'll have another. You carry on being over protective the alternative doesn't bear thinking about. If that man was my neighbor the police would have to protect him, because I'd quiet happily shoot him.Posted 26-11-07 at 10:21 PM by Susie H
