Mother of the Bride!!!

Posted 12-06-12 at 02:44 PM by pure

My eldest daughter called me today to let me know that her boyfriend of 4 years proposed last night and she said 'yes'!!!

I'm sure that I'm far to young to be 'mother of the bride' but I can't wait!!

    What fantastic news!

The dress shopping is great. Take some tissues with you though as when your Daughter finds "The One" you will probably shed a tear as I did.

Don't buy your outfit too soon though.

Ooh, the dress buying is so lovely. Can be a time for kid gloves, though.
My daughter had set her mind on a Suzanne Neville dress she had seen on the internet. We tracked it down to a shop in our nearest city, and she tried it on.
It was understated, finest silk and tasteful.
It was also underwhelming, very expensive and had a badly set zip (which, when I quietly mentioned to the assistant, she agreed with, and said she had spotted it)
But what to do? It was my daughter's dream, not mine. So I praised all the positive points.
We decided to go and have lunch, after which we visited another shop.
To cut a long story short she ended up with a dream of a dress - at half the price of the first one.
So, take your time, lots of trying on and lots of fun. Enjoy!

Well I'm not going to be buying my dress any time soon - drastic diet needed first

And going to have to save my pennies, as her dad probably won't contribute anything and if I can I would love to be the one who pays for her dress at least whats the average price? Mine was less than £50!!!!!!!

How exciting. I got married 4 weeks ago in Cyprus and it was amazing. I paid £1000 for my dress but one of my clients got her wedding dress from one of these wedding dress events and paid £400 for a dress that was worth 4 grand !!! So well worth going to one of them xx

Congrats pure, wedding dresses, well monsoon are well priced, so are debenans. When we were shopping for Becky's we were lucky, she got one from a wedding dress shop that was already made up so she only paid £400 for it instead of £1500. The cake was what did our heads in as soon as you say the word wedding, the price jumps from £40 to £100 I'm just grateful I was the mother of the groom, all I had to do was be supportive lol I told my daughter if she ever gets married to elope, she told me she'd sooner have another cat lol
