I have been working in a salon for nearly a year now, I have some lovely clients but not enough to keep me busy for the 3 days that I'm there. I don't get paid a great deal and then when I take the cost of petrol off my weekly wage I hardly get anything. My husband has said for me to advertise to get clients at home, I have all the equipment and products as I currently have a few clients, but what if my boss finds out, even though her salon is 19 miles away. I don't have a contract as she hasn't got round to doing one! Not sure what to do as I feel like I won't progress as she won't send me on any training courses. Maybe I'm just feeling sorry for myself...sorry for the rant!!

you have to look after yourself in this world, no one else will as I find out myself..
You can give yourself a business name- not using your actual name.so she wont find out.
It is apalling that your boss hasnt given you a contract, and no training.
Some bosses say, even if you leave, say you cant operate a new business or work for somewhere else within a ten mile radius so there you have it!
There are a lot of free advertising websites about too.

At the end of the day, there loss & someone elses gain.
If you dont have a contract theres nothing your boss can do even if they did find out that your operating from home.
You sound to be working there for nothing once you have taken your traveling into account.
