I stock creative colours to use and retail and i also use orly and to be perfectly honest they are both top quality enamels, i wouldnt be able to separate them they both have good coverage and great colours and the price isnt that different either, creative is slightly cheaper but then the bottles are slightly smaller! I love them both! Sorry if this has confused you even more, i had a nightmare trying to decide which ones to go for so i use them both!!!!!LOL!

I use both and I must say that the design of the Orly bottles are much nicer to use. The rubber top is easy to grip and the round bottle fits much easier into the palm of your hand.
Creative do a much wider range of colours and I find Orly brilliant for the French pinks. Sugar Daddy is lovely. Why not stock both? Give people a choice. |

Orly polishes are fab, and, like everyone's said, the gripper cap is such a great idea: easier to open the bottle and you get a better grip on the lid when painting.
I love the Year In Rocks collection and the Work collection has some fab nudey colours. They're bringing about a 'Play' collection for summer which is set to be some lovely bright shades, and Flirty Girl is a fab, fab french pink. (How many times I can use the word 'fab'? I also have some OPI colours which are lovely but a few of the brushes are a bit iffy. I know not everyone likes the fact that you can buy them in some stores like Sephora or Harrods (but let's face it guys, that's not exactly Superdrug) but they do work hard to make sure the public knows they're there. Don't think you can go wrong with Orly though. |

I also like Revlon myself but, a local discount place near me sells it at 50p a bottle, albeit selected colours. |

Hmm, didn't know that! Thanks for the tip, Glo.
The problem with OPI is a double edged sword I think.... they have really pushed themselves into the public eye, people know the name and (I think) associate it with professional quality. They've been running big ads in Comso for about 4 or 5 months that will have been seen by ladies who lunch everywhere. That can be a good thing to help drive people to your salon and you'd hope that provided Boots won't be undercutting the pro's RRP it wouldn't affect salon sales, but there will always be clients who will find it 'easier' to pop to Boots when they want a new polish, and clients and techs alike for whom the wider availability of the brand will lead to associations of it being 'less' professional. Creative have got it good by making sure the beauty editors and fashion mags feature their products without having to stick it on the shelves of every beauty store in town. They've created a vibe round their products which puts them on the consumer wish list, but sales will only be able to be made by pros because you can't buy it in Boots. I do wish some of the other pro brands put a bit more into their PR like this, because whilst 'the proof is in the pudding' (ie, the client using the product and liking it), and helping hand in raising the product profile in the first place would be nice!! All very well featuring the latest seasons colours in all the trade rags, how about a few nice big ads in some consumer mags too?? Sorry, waaaay OT! xx |

The colour range is wonderfull. I've only ever used one Creative polish and thought that was good too. But what swayed it for me is that my local wholesaler sells the complet Orly range, so i can go and have a look whenever i go, instead of trying to figure out what the colour would be like from a booklett like i have to do with Creative. So in the end, i suppose it was a matter of convenience more than anything. |
