Some of you will know that my lil bro was taken into hospital last friday morning in the early hours as we thought we were gonna loose him.

He is 3 weeks old and haddn't been putting weight on in fact he lost 2lb of his 5lb 8.8oz and was going downhill fast. During thursday he seemed ok but that evening he was very difficult to wake up and every feed we manage to get into him he was bringing it all back up again.

He's still in hospital being tested and tube fed and he's put on 2oz which isnt alot but its something.

I'm not sure why i'm even writing this post i guess its coz im scared and i don't wanna let on to my mum how scared i am coz she is upset enough already.

He is so small and helpless.

Awww, I'm so sorry to hear that...Do they know exactly what's wrong or no? Is your mom breastfeeding or bottle feeding? I know you all must be worried absolutely sick...just stay by your mom's side because she needs all the support she can get right now and it will comfort you to know you are a comfort to your mom...I'm about four months away from giving birth and the thought of my little helpless "sugar angel" getting ill at that tender age almost brings me to tears so I know you guys are fretting...Just hug your mom and know that everything will get better...he's gaining weight and that's very good...

My thoughts are with your family. My little brother was born weighing only 2lb12oz (due to prem birth & problems relating to his biological mother) & was in hospital for a long time. Fortunately there is so much they can do for these poor little mites now. My brother is now 2 years old, healthy & happy, though still on the small side. At least you know he will be monitored closely in hospital & he will be getting the best help available. I hope your little brother gets better soon.

Poor little fella. My thoughts are with you and your family. My son was born at 27 weeks and we had many months of absolute worry and you feel so helpless. But it is amazing what they can do. He is now a healthy 12 year old.

The fact that your little brother is putting on weight is a really good sign. Hope all goes well.

this must be such a worrying time for your family, my thoughts are withb you, if he has gained 2oz thats fantstic, babies are so small but but also so strong, especialy the smaller ones, xx

i know 2oz seems such a small amount,but when you compare it to his overall weight, thats actually quite a good percentage. every good wish to you and your family for continued positive progress.

You know there's always support on this site if you need to get things off your chest without worrying about worrying your mum (makes sense?!) I hope your little bro continues to gain weight and grow stronger. You're all in my thoughts & prayers.
