insurance - 15-06-05, 11:00 AM

i am trying to sort my insurance for when i open my home salon, but im not geting very far,
i phoned profesional beauty direct yesterday as i had a few questions for then and i really wanted to make sure i would be covered for everything, but the woman on the phone was soooooooooooooooooooooo rude
i told her i wanted to open a home salon and was a nail tech, before i could say anything else she said "insurance is £34," then i tryed to ask if that covered me for nails, mani, pedi, airbrush tattoo and tanning, to wich she replied "its all on our leaflet" and then she hung up , pure ignorant

i have since been phoning a few other companies but not geting anywhare fast, i had one tell me that i had to have a seperate door for clients to enter the salon, i told them this was fine as i did have then they went on about first aid kits etc which i have also sorted but then came the reply, "oh sorry we dont insure nail techs, only beauticians" sodoes anyone have the name of some good insurance companies please as it would be a great help i have gon past the point of careing about cost as long as i sort my insurance

Hi

I'm also going to be working from home soon & I have been recommended More than insurance. Haven't tried them yet so cant speak from experience. Would be interested in hearing how you get on.

Call them back then babe, cos that's wrong! I'm with More Than, they know about my salon and I've made sure there are notes on my records so there can be no comebacks later.

I was lucky, the woman I spoke to on the phone was also a part time hairdresser from home and she knew exactly where I was coming from and what to put in my notes etc.

The only thing they recommended was extra accidental damage cover, which I already had anyway, so there was no change in my premium either.

Go back to them and ask to speak to a supervisor if necessary.

I joined Professional Beauty last week and they were ok when I rang them about info. I also emailed them to clarify certain things and the responded.

Have you tried BABTAC? From reading about them on their website, they seem to be pretty ok.

Let us know who you choose in the end as I still have a few more days left, in case I want to cancel Professional Beauty!

There was a recent thread about insurance and there were some useful bits in it. Can't remember who started it, but have a search thru and you will find it. xx

I've just had a thought though, I was already with them for my buildings and contents insurance, so it was just an additional 'thing' not a whole new policy just for the business - perhaps this is were it's falling down???

Are you wanting just to insure the salon part?

I may be worth moving your home insurance to them to get the salon cover too??
