Went & had my haircut today & asked hairdresser if i could put some leaflets in his shop, he said no problem! However he said hes got a room at the back that he will rent out to me ~ no figures as yet.

What is the going rate etc?

Also bit of a dilemma as i am just slowly building up my clientel i was wondering am i better to wait until clientel is built up as i don't want to rent room & have no clients!

How did you all manage when you first started out?

im not sure what the going rate is but maybe you could let your clients know you will be working from there and also pick up some clients form the hair dresser with some kind of special offer

Have you thought about givving him a percentage to start with ?

That way you won't be out of pocket to begin and it will encourage him to put business your way to increase takings.

percentage isd a good idea, however i would try and keep the clients you have now as they are. ie dont do them at the salon, because then you will have to pay the salon owner a percentage of their money!!! bit daft really.

Thanks all i too was thinking about a percentage as this seems the best way for me to go.

However am really in a catch 2 situatuion, as how can i afford to rent a room when i dont have that many clients yet?!

I pay £10 per day then 10% of my takings, seems to work. It will be my 6th week next week.
