Makes me angry! -
30-07-12, 12:25 PM
I got a message on my fb Nail page asking how much for Manicure and Pedicure. I asked if they wanted Normal Liquor Polish, or Gel polish. Her reply was, that she has brittle nails, and would like Gel.
So told her to look on my main page at a special price I am doing for both Hands and feet............ Standard Gelish Manicure ------------------------ Nail file and Tidy Hand and nails soak Cuticle Tidy Gelish Polish Hand Massage Cuticle oil. All for £20 Standard Gelish Pedicure ----------------------- Cuticle Tidy Nail cut/shape & Tidy Gelish Polish Foot Massage Cuticle Oil All for £20 So £40 for both. I get told I charge too much, and seeings I am mobile, thought my prices would be cheaper. And that she can go to her local Salon for the same price! Needless to say, after I told her, that just because I am mobile, doesn't mean my products are not as good as Salon products, or my work. I also include petrol costs in this price. She left my page and blocked me lol |

I've never really understood why people think mobile should be cheaper. Surely having someone come to you at your own convenience and in the comfort of your own home is an added benefit to the service. Plus, as you say, you have additional fuel costs and additional travel & set up time.
If I chose to have my groceries delivered I pay for the privilege and Tesco certainly doesn’t charge me less for the produce! |

People on facebook are used to seeing the all too common £12 a set of acrylic/gel! Drives me mad, would love to know what they use, qualifications and insurance!

Icelandic people aren't exactly known for their sweet nature and politeness BUT we do not haggle prices! It's just not in our tradition! If someone doesn't like my prices they just don't reply back or book in, simple as that
This does however mean that we are very easy targets in places that price haggling is common and expected |

It really annoys me that people expect mobile to be cheaper when we work just as hard and use the same salon quality products! |

I would like to know, where she can get all that for £20. Even if she can, then what difference it to her! Except I am mobile, and go to her, instead of her going to a Salon. I don't get it. She was obviously trying to get the treatment cheaper. But Anyone who can do that same treatment cheaper would make no profilt, it's just crazy. To want a Manicure ot Pedicure with everything and Gelish cheaper then £20 is laughable!!!
If anything, when I move over to CND Wednesday, I will be charging more. There is no way I am doing Brisa and Shellac for low prices. I will charge the same as what Salons do!! |

Totally agree, I'm salon based and it drives me mad when I get people ringing for a price then say 'oh my friends brothers girlfriends sisters neighbour does gel nails and tans for £20' its so hard to not to say 'well why are you ringing me then!'
I've never understood why mobile and home therapists charge so much less. I actually know someone who admits she charges £15 for nails (average in my area is £25) and £20 for lashes (up of £40 usually) because she knows they are, and I quote "crap" brilliant, so all those people going to her for crap treatments will be put of ever having them again. |

I both mobile and have a beauty room. I do mobile for those who cant get to the salon, but want as many as possible to come to me.
I charge the same prices for all services whether I am in the salon or doing mobile. They get the same service, the same products (Gelish or EzFlow for acrylics, Minx etc) so I charge the same price. If someone tells me they can get it cheaper, I ask if they are insured if something goes wrong. Normally it is just a friend or someone not qualified doing it for them on the cheap. I just tell them that it is the same price for both places and I dont change it for anyone. |

look those type of clients can kiss my butt.If they don't like what i charge then go elsewhere. No way i am going to cut my pricing i am certainly not going to sweet heart them unless it is loyality scheme or other wise ..Have clients seen the price of nail products when vat ,delivery and god knows what goes on it i sometimes wonder why don't those type of clients bug the government to bring down there tax and vat charges at least we all would be happy

It's just cheeky is what it is. I had a family friend say she wanted her hair stripped and re tinted blonde with a restyle and blowdry an it didn't matter how much it was. Knowing she was going to be made redundant I only said £40, just about covering product and a few £ a hour, then get told its too expensive.
If she was a normal client and not who she is then it would be £100+, I charged my own aunt £60 when she had the same but different colour. Iv had a few people ask for discount because of te economic climate, and seeing as I wasted up of it said that i understand that money is short for everyone, but because I have my own business dosent mean I'm rich, I charge fair for my time and the quality of product I use and the prices listed are final. Needless to say I think they got the point xoxo |

Just another view - I've always assumed people charge less for mobile/home salon because many would rather be treated in a salon but use mobile because more reasonably priced, and that mobile can be more reasonably priced because they keep all the profits. Working self employed in a salon you don't get to keep 100% of your profit as you are paying percentage to salon or a table rent.
