Hi All,
Did anyone watch the fabulous Caroline Quentin last nite in the above programme.
It was really thought provoking and realsitic.
I have personal experience with this as my husband broke his neck 15 years ago and went from an active footy player to a quadraplegic in a few short seconds.
I liked the prog as it highlighted the feelings on all sides not just the person left disabled.
It is hard, coming to terms with it, and life does have to change, but they are still the same person, a wheelchair is just a means of getting around. My old man is great, is fully independent and works full time, so you see life doesnt have to stop.
As my son who is 8 yrs old is also disabled, ( he was born with cerebral Palsy) and is also a full time wheelchair user, I get so tired of people thinking my life must be so hard, and they feel so sorry for me. BUT WHY?? I have great kids a loving husband and there are so many other people worse off.
So I guess what i'm trying to say to anyone is dont see the disability look inside and see the person. When the going gets tough and life seems unbearable, take a second out to think about all the folk who really do have problems, there is always some one in a sorrier state!!!
Sorry for such a long one, just wanted to get it off my chest.
Thank god for nails, it saves my sanity.

I agree with you... I watched the programme last night and could not stop... all i wanted to do was scream and shout at all the people that ran around after her.. like she said,"if i want help i will ask"... bring on more programmes like this !!!!!

I watched it, and couldn't agree with you more.

A disability isn't always an illness, a lot of the time its a state of mind for some people, (hope that sounds right).

We are all individuals and thats what makes us special.(not necessarily or ilness or disability)

You have a wealth not many people can boast about, you have strength, love and most of all happiness, i admire you.


My mum had a stroke which devastated us it left her quite dissabled or so we though at the time, but nearly a year on i dont see any of that disability, i just see my mum.

Thank you loads for that. It just proves my point, the real person's inside, what does it matter what the outside looks like, or if it all works or not.
Life would be so boring if we were all the same.
Hubby is brill but he still wont let me practice on his nails !!!!!!!!! Shucks !!!!!!
