I was just looking at the 'Getting to know you' thread have have noticed that quite a few of us geeks have tattoos!

So what made you want to have one then, was it just for fashion, or another other reason?

I remembered waiting for about an hour to get mine done, was really and it was all over in about 10-15 mins

I have a big ish one across the bottom of my back and a little one on my shoulder, I got them when I was 15. I just got them cos my friends were getting them and I fancied one too! I designed them myself cos I like to be original. I dont regret them and still love them. Although I am having the one on my shoulder adapted. Ive always wanted a butterfly but I dont want anyother part of my body to have a tattoo on it, so Im having a butterfly put around it and the squiggle thats there now will be the pattern in the butterfly's wing. My sister designed it and it looks gorgeous! x x

There is a story behind mine, I had always wanted a tattoo and my dad use to say they look awful and you're not having one lol
So one Christmas Dad gave me some money, So in the January I went and booked to have a Tattoo using the money, I had a Pegasus Horse with 3 stars around it. The next day I went down to show dad and he said you are mad lol I said well I used the money you gave me so its a present from you
Two Weeks after I had my Tattoo my dad died suddenly, So my tattoo will always remind me of my dad and the stars represent him up in heaven.

I got mine because a few months before I was reeeally ill in Intensive Care. All my family thought I was going to pass away. When I got better, I began living life to the fullest. I'd always wanted a tattoo before but didnt have the courage to do it; then, I thought why the h*ll not? I've looked at life very differently since spending Xmas in Intensive Care years ago!

Yep weird isn't the way things can happen, But it is one present that will be with me forever.

I noticed this too (as well as lots of peeps that would like to play piano!!!)
Sorry to say this - please don't pelt me with squashed fruit - but I hate tattoos in any way/shape or form!! yes they look kinda cute on a younger girl, but when she's turned 50 and has a playboy bunny/ butterfly whatever , I think it looks - tacky ( i'm digging myself a big hole here!!)
But each to their own - life would be boring if we all had the same opinions!!

Suzie I dont think you will offend everyone, Its each to there own way.
The thing is when we are all old people there will be plenty of us sporting tattoo's in the old folks home

Lol, quite alot of people hate them and do think of the sagging body parts with tattoos on them, really makes me laugh.

I like fruits so wont pelt you with them, lol!

I'll just get some match sticks or something to keep my sagging bits up...! XX

thanks - I was already beginning to regret what I said!! My son wants a big LFC across his back, he is 17 and although i've pleaded with him not to, if he wants to it's his choice. But I have suggested he gets one of those which lasts for 7 years and then fades. My Auntie got a chinese symbol done when she was 50.......She thinks it's something to do with health /love or peace symbol.....I told her it represents chicken chow mein!!

I love tatts but the more up too date one's, im not into bart simpson or cartoon things. Now a days its a real art and there is so much beautiful work being done it amazes me. I have one on my neck which goes down my back and my hubby has our children, there protrates of our girls one on each arm they are beautiful and my girls felt very honered that their dad was having them done. If fact he's off in about 30 mins to have another finished il try and up load what he's had done.

I do agree with you Suzie but 7 years ago now I was really down and I mean really down I had a black tat around the top of my arm I hate it and the more I think of it I get down!!!!

I really want to have it taken off but for now I will put up with it as I can not aford this.

We all do things we regret but never mind I can always cover it up.

I have 4 tattoos and i love every single one of them! i won't be getting anymore as they are all well placed and can be covered whenever i choose...i will be getting the one at the top of my back altered slightly when my baby is born but that'll be it (unless we have anymore kids!!)

I also have my eyebrows, eyeliner and lip liner done with permanent make up....they are tattoo's in a sense so i'm sure they count aswell!!!!!

Apparently they're addictive, thats why Becks (David Beckham) has so many of them.

I'm quite happy with the one I have.

I love tattoos especially when they have meaning. A lot of people say they are masculine but that is depending where they are. Personally wouldn't have any on my arms, anywhere else - cool.

Mine are on my hips. Want to get two special ones for each ankle for my babies. At one point I wanted a whole flower vine growing from my butt cheek up to my shoulder - couldn't afford it!

Yep im a fan of body storytelling.
