Just wondering what exactly you write for an editorial and how to make the best use of it? Any advice would be great!

And how do you approach a journo to get editorial in your local paper?

Not quite sure what you mean by 'what do you write' depends what you what youre writing about...
But to answer Vicxzy's question. Coincidently, Ive spent this morning putting together an email that I have adressed to the features editor of my local paper. Im not sure if Ive adressed this to the correct section or not but if you Google your local newspaper, you will get their site and there you'll find all sorts of different contact details.

Well my email was a follow up on an article that they ran back in July, they did a feature on how 'extensions ruin your nails' and after I rang & spoke to the writer, he promised to redress the balance by doing a follow up with some help from me & a few other techs who had complained, he never went ahead with it.
With Xmas coming up I thought it would be a good time to contact them again and see if they would run something in their women's section on what to look for in a salon and how to spot & avoid a NSS.
If they wont respond to your emails, you could always try ringing them.

Sorry to hijack your thread M.A.B

I write a regular monthly article for 2 free colour glossy local mags...I get to do this by advertising every month (the fact that they're only about 2 years old prob helps). I just choose a subject...i.e.Why manicure and what should you expect? OR Do nail enhancements ruin your nails? OR Problem nails? and once you start putting your thoughts down on paper, everything just sort of comes together....one tip though...NEVER think you're done once you've written it.....always give yourself 24 hours and look at it again, you'll be amazed what you can 'tweak'.....Good Luck

Thanks guys! The editorial was to be about my new business etc. I have decided to postpone it a bit to give myself more time to writing something properly. My main problem at the moment is I only work 1 to 2 days a week and out of two different locations and when I started writing things down it didn't come across right. I still have the option of the editorial at a later date as well as the possibly writing an article every now and then. So this is quite exciting too. Thanks for your posts guys they have been really helpful!

xx
