I have a yellow pages rep coming later, has anyone listed with them and if so how have you found it?

best form of advertising that i have done.

I got a 5 line box last yr for £180.

This year i got buy one get one free so i am in the nail tek dept and the beauty dept for free also (as i do beauty too !)

Hack a deal out i think they can be a little 'flexible' with there pricing structure!

Iv'e advertised on the radio,and in my local paper and have to say that the yellow pages was the best. Have had a good response back and also the cheapest to. Latyear i gort a 5 line box fro £96 this year for the same box it is £112

yellow pages has certainly worked for me... got lots of clients through them when i was mobile. And you can pay by instalments.

another good thing to do is advertise on YELL.com - free basic listing or you can purchase a larger ad - i get a few from that too!

Works for me too...I'm also listed on yell.com and get an average of 1 enquiry a week from that...can't say how many enquiries from yp but every time I question my clients on how they would find a beautician, nail, tech, etc they always say 'word of mouth' or yp.
I also pay for my ads over 10 months at no extra cost.

I used to be a Yellow Pages Rep! Got to be 'Rep of the Year' for my area too!

I'm in YP with a 15mm semi-display that cost £116 +vat, also on Yell.com with a hyperlink to my website which has cost me 299 + vat. But money well spent.

Get it booked, pay by installments (interest free too) and only book what you can afford, don't let the rep tell you you only need 'X' amount of bookings to pay for it - just go with what you feel comfortable with. but make sure it's enough to get all your info in.

Thanks for your replies, but the rep has just been and what she offered was a 2inch square box in 2 colours for £570.00 which I thought was expencive compared to what you are all paying

My YP ad is really expensive, but it covers 2 columns and is full colour...... I still think it's worth doing as only client referrals has brought me more income.

i have just started with yellow pages but today i have had 6 phonecalls but they weren't from customers who were wanting treatments, they were from company's trying to sell me things which i did state to yellow pages and yell.com no third party advertising, i didn't advertise for this only for treatments its abit annoying where you get a phone call and find out its nothing to do with your shop, hope i don't get any more of these, hope next phone call is a genuine customer.

that sounds like a lot.
usually as a first time advertiser they will do a special offer.
i dont know if going for a bigger colour add will necessarily get you more business than something in the £100 region.
i think costs do vary from one region to another though.

I decided to go really big this year, and it hasn't made any difference to the amount of calls I get. I wouldn;t pay any more than the cost of one new client a month, and that includes an ad on Yell.com which has been successful for me recently, especially people buying gift vouchers who don't live in the area for someone who does!

I pay over £1000 for my add in YP, i have advertised with them for years. i get alot of business from them.. i advertised in newspapers before and never had one call. so YP works for me.

My adds are big three colour in two sections, beauty salons and weddings.
