I've had my new extensions fitted a couple of weeks ago... (after they were ruined)
I love them!

So now i am learning... i've looked into some courses, bought a practice head, training dvd (well 2) and have my mum on hand who doesn't care what her hair looks like to practice on!

Any extensionists on here with any advice on good places to buy human hair wefts? i want to learn the fusion bonding method.
I am armed with my colour ring... just need a suplier...

Also, if anyone is interested, this forum opened yesterday...

i am interested in doing extensions too, let me know what course you choose and if its any good?! dennis williams suppliers near me have started selling hair extensions kits and hair by balmain dont know if they are any good ??? have you heard of them?

The salon I work at...for the next 2 weeks anyway lol...use Balmain....I had some in my hair for 3 months, no problems...although I wouldn't recommend training with them unless you are a qualified hairdresser (not sure if you can train with them unless you are qualified) as there is a lot more to hair extension looking natural than just being able to put in the bonds....there's the blending with the natural hair for starters...no way would I want to mess about with that!

Glad u said it first Cathie! im a qualified hairdresser and we do extensions at our salon and the numba of people who come in wanting us to blend their hair in with extension hair!, this is where people can tell u have extensions the object of exensions is not to be able to tell!

well i did think...ok....so what if they want them cutting into shape and your not a hairdresser! eeeeek

it basically looks a mess! lol theres a blatant step in the hair where the natural hair stops and the extentions carry on

I HAD MY HAIR EXTENSIONS DONE BY A GIRL WHO WAS BRILLIANT, BUT COULDNT CUT HAIR AT ALL (HER PRICE DID REFLECT THIS THOUGH) LUCKILY I WAS AWARE OF THIS IN ADVANCE AS MY HAIRDRESSER RECCOMENDED HER, BUT IT DID MEAN THAT I HAD TO DASH HOME LOOKING LIKE A WITCH TO GET MY HAIRDRESSER TO CUT AND STYLE IT FOR ME

if u know a hairdresser maybe u could team up with them and do it together? there is alot of money to be made with extensions as they're getting more popular

As Mum would say about tip sizing and application....it has to look as if it grew there!

i feel totally bald without my extensions, i think thats y people get them done again and again

Good point about the blending.... I'm not a hairdresser but trained with Cinderella last year and although blending was covered, I didn't feel confident to really promote the service...the blending is so important....so I have held back a bit. I'm planning on doing more training with them this year...they have training for non-hairdressers so I'm am really pleased about that. I want to give a professional service and make sure I can blend the extensions to the hairstyle before I start promoting it. Sometime's I wish I knew a hairdresser who could give me some tuition!!! I wouldn't have to travel so far and have hotel costs etc etc!!!

with Mane Connection we didn't use scissors to blend the hair we use thinning scissors instead so we didn't get a blunt cut as ur not sppose to cut extensions into a style, they can fray and go bitty at the bottom. you order your length startin @ 10 inch up to 20 inch then you send a sample of the customers hair so the extension is an exact match in colour. theres no need to restyle the extensions. these are mine 16inch can't see them all properly tho
