Depends on which area you are in. Some colleges actually offer spit the NVQ course up. For example, they would offer mancure and pedicure then like eye treatments all together etc. Depends on what you are interested in.
I'm 38 and will be going back to do L3 hopefully this year. Age is just a number in the nails and beauty business...XX |

I am not a Beauty Therapist so I can't comment on that part of your query although I am sure if you phoned round you local Colleges for a Prospectus they would do part time courses........
BUT COME ON...you are ONLY 34!!!......the perfect age to take on a new challenge , as you have the common sense and maturity to get as much out of your training as you can....I was older than you when I started in Nails and it has been the best thing I have ever done...... ...I am sure other geeks will post where they did Beauty training and how they coped with young families.....but Good Luck on whatever course you do!... |

I actually did both my level 2 and 3 part time wednesdays and thursdays day time. It took me 2 years but I have never looked back. If you only do part of an NVQ i.e units then you end up paying out a lot more than if you do the whole course. Try doing the level 2, which is your basics, waxing,manicure,pedicure,eyelash/brow treatments,make-up & facials. You may then decide you want to do level 3 which is another year however you will have to do a massage course first to be able to do level 3, level 3 consists of electrical tratments, sauna, steam room(ideal for spa treatments) electrolysis its tough but sooo worth it. Once you start you feel the world is your oyster and get hungry to learn as much as you can. There were lots of different ages and I was a mature student with 3 children. Good luck, go along to your local college and have a chat about your options. Hope this helps a little.xx

I started my beauty training last year at the ripe old age of 41!!! At nearly 43 I'm still going! Just done waxing and booked for electrical facials and advanced facials. unfortunately I do not thrive at FE college courses as I find them painfully slow and they demotivate me., I have found a tutor local to me who, although expensive, is very thorough in her tuition and teaches at a speed that is much better suited to my brain!
I believe that age is just a number ... although when I look in the mirror mother nature doesn't quite have the same logic!!! |

I ceratinly don't feel too old to start new things and I actually think that's what keeps me young - I thrive on learning new things. xx |
