I know what you mean !!
My hubby wants to go to Las Vegas just me and him and for our daughter (age 3) to stay with my mum for a few days and I feel the same as you. My mum will take good care of Georgia and take her to her caravan at the sea side but I still feel a bit guilty. She has been before just for a weekend though so I always make sure mum takes our spare mobile phone so I can keep in touch...always ring 1st thing in the morning then again at night to say goodnight and that seems to work ok. I must admit though it is sometimes really nice to have a few days away from being a mummy and have a bit of time for yourself. I would be really chuffed if my hubby booked a surprise trip away and you have to thank your lucky stars as well that you have your mum available to help out. |

Yes you are being silly
I got married very young and only had 4 months alone with my hubby before our first daughter arrived then got pregnant very soon after that and before long we had 3 daughters and no time alone, don't get me wrong I love the girls but for 13 years my life has been about them and not me or my hubby so now its our time So have your time away relax and enjoy spending time with your hubby

I know it is hard to leave the kids behind but try not to feel guilty as they will be looked after and have a good time, and its lovely to spend some time away just the two of you for a change! Have a good time relax and enjoy yourself.

I felt the exact same way, we went away for hubby's 40th and I felt awful and really guilty until we got on the plane! and then we had a ball, it was great just the two of us, i reckon parents should be able to get a week away on their own on prescription, go for it you'll love it and the guilt will disappear

i have a friend and her hubby who went to austrlia yesterday for 3 weeks to see about living over there, but they have left their two little girls with her mum. she said when she first booked it she went through all the guilty feelings but then started really looking forward to spending some time just the two of them.
me personally though whenever ive gone on course's thats might that ive had to stay overnight somwhere its nearly killed me being away from my kids, but thats just me. i dont think bad of anyone who goes on holiday without thier kids because everyone is different and if you feel like you need time to chill away from them they will benefit in the end. |
