12-04-06, 08:49 AM
Hi geeks,
I know this isnt a nail question, but as im guessing most of you would know a thing or two about haircuts and styles that are hot right now. Im thinking of having a change, i have very long straight hair with a bit of a layering. i was looking for something a little funkier, but still keep it longish |

wats hot depends on your face shape and lifestyle im afraid, just like nails, (well not the face shape obviously, the finger shape / lenght), blunt bobs seem to be doin the rounds at the moment, but not great for someone with a round face, also loose curls are goin to be big this summer so if could just get a couple of slices (thick highlights) of a slightly lighter colour then you hair to highlight the curls (use heated tongs or velcro rollers), brighter colours are always nice for the summer ...your best best tho as said is to go to you salon and have a consoltation with a stylist x

As a hairdresser it would be unprofessional of me to advise you without seeing you, however there are a few key looks for summer, curls, texture, and movement.
As for clolur, highlights are great in summer, but just to clarify slices are just a different method of highlighting and do not need to be thick(you don't want to look like Geri in her spice girl days do you ??) Hth,if not email me a photo and i will be happy to help in more detail x |

Hi,
Ive had long one length straight hair practically all my life and wanted a change because i was really bored with my appearance! About a month ago I had a full fringe cut in with blended round the edges (if that makes sense) it makes such a difference to my appearence people were double taking me! I love it and it looks much more funky now, its freshened up all my clothes as I look so different LOL! Good Luck x x x x |

thanks for that, i was thinking about getting some kind of fringy thing but i was a bit scared, were you scared when you got yours done? did your hairdresser recommend it for you? i was also thinking about getting a bit taken off the ends. im just so sick of it, its so boring.
I did have very light hair for a few years, then i got sick of that 4 months ago and died it a light brown, that was exciting for a bit but i just think im in need of a chop. |

Yeah I was very scared! But I was so bored with my hair and id been thinking about it for a year (really!) Then one day I went into a shop and saw this girls hair she had a thick fringe and I loved it - I asked her where she had it done, she gave me the number of the salon and the stylists name and I booked it that day. (I had also got fed up with my current hairdressers - colours never lasted etc..) I was so pleased, im having it cut there again on Good Friday, can't wait!

Tip for seeing what a fringe will look like (and dont all jump on me im no way a hairdresser just practical!!) But some cheap yaki braid from ebay (nylon hair extensions) in your or near enough your natural colour and cut yourself a fringe from that and clip it in with grips - i did this before i took the plunge and was glad i did because i realisised I suited a fringe where i had been too scared to have the chop for years ! .... have a go, its fun anyway ! hee hee ! x

i've got long hair and my hairdresser recently gave me an armani haircut. its will nice. i don't like fringes because my hair is curly and i like to straighten it. so he's kept it long without a fringe, but he's cut it shorter on one side so it is shaped around my face and it looks fab.

Well guys, i took the plunge and...I LOVE IT
igot 20-30cm taken off the ends, so now it is just below my shoulders and i have a kindof fringe which goes to one side and is razor cut and its all layered all over, it feels so good in a pony, i dont think ill ever have long hair again, its so easy to care for this short stuff. Thanks for your advice guys |
