I went to the maldives for my honeymoon 9 years ago and it was the most amazing place! The people were wonderful, the weather was gorgeous, the food delicious, (getting the picture)! We stayed on Bandos for a glorious 3 weeks. A friend of mine went last year and loved it also! Not a "party" holiday, but relaxing and a beautiful setting.

Great decision about not going to Egypt (imho) The Maldives is supposed to be a paradise, my cousin worked there for years running a dive club. If you like diving thats one of the places to go, beautiful sea and many sea creatures and gorgeous beaches. Can I come too? Its v expensive though

We went to Kuredu 2 years ago, the Maldives are the most beautiful place on earth
Check out www.kuredu.com for their guest book pages - loads of people post their pictures, reviews, recommendations and tips for travelling. It's an absolute mine of information. It's hard work getting there, 13 hours on a plane, then either 4 hours on a speed boat or 40 minutes on a sea plane (which I highly recommend rather than the speed boat) but worth every minute of the journey - I have never seen sea so clear, warm and jewel coloured, or sky so blue. I didn't know there was such amazing places on our earth. If you want to drop out of civilisation for a couple of weeks it's ideal, the Maldive motto is 'no shoes, no news'. I didn't wear shoes for the entire 2 weeks we were there, not to dinner, dancing, or anything. All we did was, sleep, dive, swim, eat and relax. Very envious, this is me |

We stayed on Filitheyo last November..........it was amazing - just perfect.
Apparently the food on Filitheyo is the best in the Maldives (said people who have visited many times) Kuredu is the "busiest" island.....most to do there, ideal if you want more activities. It is very laid back, everyone keeps themselves to themselves, weather is perfect, unspoilt and the sea is gorgeous! It is hard work getting there!! But seeing these tiny jewels of islands in the sea way below from the window of the seaplane is certainly an unforgettable experience. Go for it - you will love it and never want to leave. Oh, and don't bother packing shoes, you will not wear them. |

Hiya, Have been to the Maldives for the last 3 years. It`s the first place that I have been where I actually feel as though I have really had a proper holiday. We went to Sharm in Eqypt a few years ago which was great for the snorkelling but 3 days in & the inevitable dodgy tummy set in!
Have gone back to the same island each time...Kuramathi. We didn`t wear shoes for the whole 2 weeks we were there. The water bungalows are fab but last time they upgraded us to a suite...Oh my god! We even had our own private outdoor bathroom with jacuzzi. The people there cant do enough for you. They even gave us a 3 course complimentary dinner on the beach. The best thing about the island though was the spa. After pampering other people all year you just cant beat it. I visited 5 times. A full body massage looking out over the ocean ...absolute bliss.Only prob is you dont carry any money with you so when you check out the plastic takes a bit of a hammering! |
