Visiting New York - Where Do I Start????!!! - 09-06-06, 06:32 PM

Hullo geeks

I am thinking of visting New York, New York!

I haven't a clue where to start. Any advice would be appreciated, particularly:

1. When is the best time to visit? I don't want it to be sweltering hot, nor do I want it to be bitterly cold, or worse, raining the whole time. (Don't ask for much, I know.)

2. How did you book? Flights and hotel together or separately? Through an agent or website? Months in advance or last minute?

3. If I was going to book last minute, any tips or websites you can recommend?

4. Any hotels that you can recommend or advise me to avoid

This would be of enormous help to me, as I've never been outside Europe before, so I don't know where to start.

Thank geeks! xxxxxx

When I went to New York last year I went in November time, only coz I wanteed to go there for my Christmas shopping! It was quite busy and it was cold! So that doesn't help much does it? But I booked with Virgin for the flight and the hotel! I went for 3 nights! It was lovely. We stayed in the Millennuim Broadway Hotel, definately worth a look on the Virgin website!

Thankx for that, honey! Did you book separately, or flights and hotel together? Also, did you book last minute or a few months before?

I was there a few years back, stayed in the Roosevelt hotel, just a couple of block away from Central Park. You can check it out at www.theroosevelthotel.com/

All i will say is don't go during the winter it's FREEZING!!

Hi,

I went to NYC a few years back and booked hotel direct and flights with BA. It was the best deal about at the time. All I can advise is go to a travel agent see what they come up with then search the net to see if you can get anything better.

We stayed in Mid-Town walking distance from most things or 2 min walk to grand central for the subway (very confusing, not like the underground).

With regards to the weather, I went in March and it was Snowing. Bloody freezing but didnt ruin my time there at all.

If you do go try booking the Tribecca Grill for diner one night. It is owned by Robert DeNiro. Very nice and you might see some famous faces.
