what Sunquest are saying is that you can fit 200w tubes and they will work but they won't be operating at 200w because that is dictated by the ballasts? So if you was to tell them what you have done they'd say it wasn't operating at 200w. Do u see what I mean??? I have to decide if I will buy new beds or refurb and upgrade the tubes... most of the refurb beds are old 180w units and according to Sunquest can not be upgraded without changing these ballast things... confused I'll have a look at you link also thanks |

Hey Jom, nope the guy who told you that is absolutely right - it IS set by the balasts.
You can put hotter tubes in though, there's no problem about that - you can ADVERTISE to customers also that you have 200w tubes. I read a fascinating article somewhere online about balasts and their relation to the wattage but i will have no chance of finding it! What are you trying to achieve? |

I'm opening a Salon, we have enough room for 2 vertical units. I have a certain budget available specified in my business plan and the bank have given me in a loan the exact amount I need for start up so have to get this right 1st time. I originally was gonna get 2 refurbished vertical units from thesunbewarehouse cost around £3k each but these would have been 180w and I would have had the replace the tubes to make it 200w. Now I have been to an appointment at Sunquest, they have pointed out that putting 200w tubes in doesn't mean it will be a 200w sunbed... but other people dis-agree like sweetie and the salon my girlfriend works in. But Sunquest have offered me a deal on 2, 60 tube 200w Eclipses which cost wise work out not a million mile out from my budget. given there offer and upgrading by replacing tubes sounds like more hassle than it's worth I think I will go with Sunquest. The other question... Quote:
Sunquest electrician is telling us we'd be fine with the 2 sunbeds which run at 50amp each. We will be fine because even though the electric says 100amp on it... you actually get 20% more so we will physically have 120amps available. So I was just hoping someone could confirm this. |

Hi there
my beds used to have 180w tubes, but now one of them have 200w tubes. And its fab, i recently bought a new 225w bed and the re-tubed has taken over. Funny really, the clients like the feeling of being hot! Cant understand why???? In fact, we can still only allow clients 9mins on the re-tubed bed and not 12 in case they burn!! |
