Mad Injections & after effects! - 28-06-06, 11:21 PM

Hello guys and gals,

Just a quickie for some advice if you please! I'm having all my injections this week before I start my cabin crew training. Earlier on this week I had Polio, Hep A, Diptheria, Tetanus, and Typhoid. Although when I had them they did not hurt at all, 2 days later my arm feels like I've been punched! I had stomach ache yesterday and I now have a huge red mark on the arm that has been injected (like, the size of a small orange). It's been so long since I have had any immunisations, I was wondering if this is a typical after-effect?

I'm due to go back and see the nurse tomorrow morning and have my yellow fever injection, and I will double check with her then. Was just wondering if there is anything I can put on my arm now to stop the scratching feeling I have got!!!!!!
Thanks! xxxx

Yep I had to have all those when I went to Tunisia. That dead arm feeling is the tetnus jab... doesn't hurt at the time but a couple of days later you feel like some one has clobbered you with a base ball bat!!! As for the rest I did feel like I had slight flu symptoms for a day or so but nothing too bad......my mum however was quite ill in bed from them. I guess every one reacts differently!! HTH

Calamine lotion on the hot area, it's fab to stop itching... or try a cold flannel.....
sometimes they inject live vaccines, not sure which ones are live from the list you've had, maybe try www.netdoctor.co.uk the info on there is spot on.
definitely have a chat with the nurse tomorrow, you might have had some sort of reaction.
