Waxing Knees !! - 05-07-06, 08:43 AM

Had a client yesterday who had really dry knees and was having difficulty getting the wax off no matter how thinly I applied it. Any tips or product I can apply to the knee beforehand to help ??

Thank you.

use oil instead of talc honey as it stops it adhering to the skin but still allows it to adhere to the hair. Just use a little otherwise the wax won't adhere to anything. Trust me it works wonders. I don't use talc anymore for anything x

I have to say I have witnessed Sarah's waxing techniques, and I was taught with talc - I now use oil and I wouldnt use anything else! Works a treat! xxx

Thanks very much for the replies. What sort of oil do you use ?? At the moment I just use a pre-treatment spray.

You can use any light oil - massage oils, baby oil, and even the post-wax oils that the bigger waxing companies sell will do a good job. Steer clear of the heavier oils like wheatgerm and avocado, however, as these are more difficult to get the right amount on the skin.

Still do your pre-cleanse with the spray, then smear the tiniest amount of oil onto the skin. As Sarah said, too much and the wax will slip and slide about all over the place - if you find you have too much, simply wipe off the excess with a tissue. Takes a bit of practice to get right, but it's well worth the effort!
