I just have to scream "aarrrgghhh"!! - 30-08-06, 09:51 AM

I'm having a lot of bother with my daughter going into school (she's just started primary 1). It starts with the minute she wakes up, "im not going to school" is all she says but i just ignore her, then when i get her to school i have to go right in to the cloakroom with her because she keeps grabbing my clothes (she has just ripped a button off my jacket). I dont know what to do, the teachers are very nice and they have to come and actually pull her away from me then i have to run out the door. I went through this when my son started P1 but he only done it the first few days, she's been in P1 since 16th aug and starts full time on mon so imagine what she will be like then. The thing that annoys me the most is when her dad is off work he takes my two kids to school and she goes in no bother, i think she is just taking the "PISS" out of me because her teacher says the minute i leave she is absolutely fine, but i'm the one that is firm with her where as her dad lets her away with things, where have i went wrong eh!!, has anyone else went through this?, or got any tips on how to handle it?. Anyway sorry for rambling on a bit just had to get this off my chest. Im away to make a coffee and sit on my backside before collecting her at 12.15pm.

Kids, eh? Know how you feel, ive got 4 (and a step daughter) and they really try to push the boundaries sometimes. I think you just have to keep doing what you are doing now, especially if she is fine once you have gone. Stay firm with her and tell her that she has to go to school like all the other children to learn and make friends. This WILL pass in time, the more she thinks it bothers you the more she will do it, just have a good old scream when shes not around!!
