Does anyone know how air con should be installed and maintained correctly ?
I googled it but i would be there for a week lol. Also,as an asthma sufferer, are you more likely to become ill as a result of being in an air conditioned place ? Any help is appreciated, thanks geeks x |

You would have to find a recognised contractor to fit & maintain the air con on a annual basis (thats what we do at work) ... the first maintenance visit (about a year after installation) should be quoted in the price!! Air Con is a lot of hard work ... I hate it at work, I wish we didnt have it! Always breaks down & always freezing! I dont know if you will be more likely to suffer with your asthma but alot of people at work always complain that they feel ill from it being always cold!! Thats all I really know, but I hth's |

Has you Mam spoken to her GP? Edited ... I remember a while back, a lady was on the news for not maintaining her air con unit properly which caused her workers to turn ill. |

I dont know about the installation as this varies from companies & it propably would have been installed when the building was built.
The company should have a maintenance manual which would have been given to the, whether or not your Mam has access or not is a different story. I'm looking through the manuals we give out when we hand over a building, it says the following: Routine Maintenance Instructions Daily - check control panel indicators for "fault conditions" if fault is showing investigate and reset panel. Weekly - check system for leaks and excessive noise, if found investigate and remedy. Monthly - check filters mounted in ventilation plant & air con fan coils units, if dirty remove, clean/replace & refit as necessary. Annual maintenance by specialist contractor Inspect equipment for refrigeration leaks clean all motor housings clean lint dirt from all air cooled condensers Clean all condensing units lubricate all moving parts check operating pressures of condensing units check refrigerant in systems Inspect & adjust temperature controls Inspect & adjust safety controls check operation & refrigerant controls clean condensate drain pipe, tail pipe & trap pipe All of the above should be done on a annual basis. I will continue looking through the manual but it would be best if your Mam can find out who is supposed to be the specialist contractor & see if she can get her hands on the unit specific manual! |
