Following on from an earlier thread, Sarah (Sassy) has offered, well I asked LOL, to offer critique on our adverts.

They are also open for others to comment too so dont be shy as we are typical of our clients and we know what we like or dont like. Would the ads attract you.

Equally you must say if you dont like them , we need to be prepared to take the rough with the smooth - if you cant take it dont post.

Here are mine, these are two I currently have running - small one is in Beauty Salons and the larger one is in Nail Technicians. I got nothing from the Beauty Salons section. Unfortunately from a cost cutting exercise I have had to scale down my advertising so I chose to move the small one to the Nail Tech section and lose the big one - although I think I prefer it, it was just too big and expensive. The small one believe it or not is the black one LOL

I hope they are clear enough.

I think both adverts are great Fiona but my favourite is the small one (the black one). I think that it stands out more and the Creative logo seems more prominent to me.

If I was to be extremely picky, all that I would change is the line spacing of "Acrylic, Fibreglassl" and the next lin "& gel nail enhancements". I think it should be smaller line spacing for it to be read as the one section (hope you understand what I mean).

Both adds have given me ideas of my future adds. Hope they bring you loads of business.

Well they are fab ads hun, but YP ads normally are because they tend to make their own ads and know what they are doing.

It has a clear heading, easy to read, lovely pic, phone number is nice and big and not too much text. To be honest there is nothing really to fault and this is a good example of directory advertising.

You have obviously realised that evening appointments are popular and state it in your ad, if you don't state it peeps will assume you don't do it.

Will be interesting to see what other people think.

The smaller ad doesn't show up so well on here. Does the text show up better on the black in real life?

Yes, it is much clearer in real life, some of the quality has been lost by compressing the file size, if I left it as it was then it would have taken 2 days to load LOL.

cool thread - this is where my expertise lies - i was hypoventilating when i saw it- i can actually give some true critique cos i spend all day doing adverts

the colours of the bigger ad (the black one ) are more striking your eye gets drawn to it but the 'white out' text or pink out as it is - could do with being bolder as white outs are always harder to read.

wording is better on the first one - you have your service at the top rather then your company name which shows the client what you do straight away cos they will just flick through looking for a nail tec. phone numbers easy to read etc nicely laid out too xx
