Having just read one of the replies to my reply, I attended the gymophobics training course for two whole weeks, and one FULL week was a sales course taught by their guru/brainwasher/owner Richard telling you how to get prospective "Mabels" to sign on the dotted line. Make her think she's really important to you that you can help her lose that weight, but get that signature at all costs preferably for the FULL UPFRONT annual membership we spent longer role playing for that than learning our static exercises which we were then to teach to unfit women when some of the women on the course could only just grasp how to do them. The gyms near me have all gone bust in the last 6 months, and why do you think that is? And maybe the training has changed - I doubt it - but in 2007 it was 2 weeks, 1 week gym, 1 week sales, to enable you to get your gymophobics trainer certificate, as i said, not nearly long enough to call yourself a certified fitness instructor.
![]() You do sound remarkably similar to the gymophobics staff though..... |

Reading your last two replies about how gymopobics is a complete scam i have to say i really disagree.
I personally work at the gymopobics in stafford, and i have to say i think it is a brilliant idea for women who are self contious of gyms, and wanna do something with their figure. I strongly belive that everyone is perfect just how they are, but if they wanna loose a few pounds or inches or tone up then let them. I myself have done these training courses, and if you would like to cast your mind back to them, do you remember when they said that the first exam is only a basic gym instructor?...my point exactly, okay fair enough its only two weeks, but i tell you what, i was doing the training courses for two weeks solid, a 9 am til a 6/7 pm jobbie, to be honnest i think that is pure dedication to a job, and selling for me was only a day thing. One thing i do agree with you though is, how Richard, is a very money orintated person, ya no. I met the man once and he seems plesent enough when it doesnt come about buisness, he isn't a people caring person in a job, but then again if you had put all you money into it would you?...im not slating him, but im not bigging him up, i just think don't judge a book by its cover, ya see, thats what i got told any way. As for the gym, it is not a scam!, if your women were not loose the inches, pounds, dress sizes etc etc, then you obviously were not showing them correctly, or correcting their technic if they were doing something wrong. I myself have set out personal programes to suit each lady, i don't use the same one each time for different ladies, i actually sit down talk to them and see what they want. If your ladies were not loose their weight/ inches etc etc, then maybe you may say their technics wernt right. I currently do the gym myself and within four weeks i lost a stone!...so please don't tell me it does not work...because no offence ya' wrong. It is a great place if im honnest, the people are friendly and the atmopshere is brilliant, no one ever has a sad face, everyone is almost happy, okay granted the price is a lil steep, even i admit that, but then once again if you see the results and your happy, what price ticket would you shove on happieness and health?. Sorry for the essay just wanted people to hear from another point of view. |

I believe the concept of gymphobics is good, i was a member for a year with a supposed extra 18 months membership. But i definitley believe now its a BIG mistake. Yes i enjoyed it, yes i lost inches and yes i defintley lost pounds. But i've lost more of the wrong sort of pounds. £'s. Mine is one of the several that have gone in liquidation recently. With no interest whatso ever shown by the owners of gymphobics. I think if you see the amount of disatisfied customers that i've read about and spoken to you would begin to wonder. The owners seem more for selling the franchises than what actually happens to the people who join them. Once they have their money thats it.. no interest at all. I've still had no reply to letters i've sent. I can't see how more people want to invest in the company when so many are going bust. if another reopened near me and i was contacted to rejoin i know i wouldn't and i know many others who wouldn't even want to be associated with the name. Once bitten and that!!!

I go to gymophobics Lichfield and can say that it changed my life, i have had amazing results and it was awesome i have never been to any gym that takes such good care of its members. I had a few complications with my standing order and rang the head office and they were so supportive. I heard a few had closed down but considering that there are so many of them thats not like they are all closing down, as far as i can tell this is a franchised company and the head office is like the brand or somwethjing they are not responsible for those gymophobics businesses but my friend got a lovely reply and had her membership transferred because she was close to another one. They apologised and said they werent responsible for each gym as they are seperate businesses but that the Gymophobocs brand always wants to take care of its valued members if they can.The head office wouldnt have taken any of your money i dont think and they gave my friend advice on how to claim back the remaining amount from her card company or something if i remember rightly. I can personally say that i will always suppport gymophobics as they are so dedicated. And its alot better than many other circuit gyms for instance Motorcise has gone bust, ladyzone is poop...and well i havent tried any others lol but i would rather go to a big franchise company that has taken so much care of me and that i know are stable and secure.x

Hi
Ive won 3 weeks free to this gym. I usually would go to a spite & sawdust mixed gym, but i thought its free ill give it ago, Ladies there do seem to lose inches rather than pounds, but what i find strange is there is no shower for after ur workout, I did push myself & could have done with one but some ladies come in & work out in their day clothes with heels. So each to our own, but its not for me Dianex |

Its just another fad that will come and go.I worked in a place that had toning tables for a while and they were booked solid at the height of their popularity, but then people get bored, they don't work because people still eat too much and thats what its all about input to output.
Everyone knows its getting off bums, getting a bit more active and not stuffing their faces with more food than they need, the wrong food and alcohol. Im as bad as anyone i have a gym membership hardly go,ive just stopped going to Rosemary Conley because if im on an eating plan i think of food all the time and i put on more weight.Someone would almost certainly be able to convince me to try these machines but i know i wouldnt stick at it for more than a month so of course it will never work. Funny thing is when i go to the gym for a phase i really enjoy it and do feel so much better.I dont know |

Once you get into that habit even if you then have a short break from it due to illness or sth, you will end up going back to the gym as you'll remember how good it made you feel. Also think of all that wine and chocolate you'll be able to have without feeling guilty!! |

I think its best for me to think of it as exercise for health rather than to lose weight. It definately helps with the aches and pains that come with getting older and im not even that old. |

Be careful - DON'T GO!!! I was sucked into going for a free trial, but before I knew it - I signed on the dotted line and was contracted to the sum of £334 for the year!!! I only went to see what it was like, I didn't get my free session, and I was pressured to sign. That was 1 Sep 08, I told them I had a holiday coming up 13 Sep so wouldn't start till 1 October. My holiday went bust (XL) to the tune of £860 - which I am still trying to claim. So the last thing I wanted was to pay another £334 on my card, I rang them 1st October, to cancel, thinking I would be safe, I didn't get my free trial, and I hadn't started. The lady was fine, then last week, a manager rang me and asked me why I hadn't turned up - told him I cancelled, but still wanted me to pay the money!!! Even if I wanted to cancel I will have to pay them 3 months subs + admin fee = £108!!!!! I told him to sue me!!! So now I'm waiting for the summons, I'm hoping the branch I went to will go bust - I have been reading how many of them are shutting down. I wasn't impressed with what I say, I know I was stupid to sign - not reading the 22 rules in the contract, but I honestly thought as I hadn't started - I would be within my rights to cancel when I was due!!! What do you think??? So please - don't SIGN anything.
