I did this 5 yrs ago but the club i went to was called motorsize!
The machines are exactly the same, i loved going, got great results and would have loved to continue but it was £350 a year which i couldnt afford to keep up with. The aim is to resist the movement of the machines thus working your muscles. Ive even used toning tables which again i got great results from but that was also expensive! Clubs like these are a great place with a great atmosphere, theres no embarrasment between the ladies, infact i made friends with quite a few who im still in touch with. |

i used to work at a gymophobics, and as a person who knows health, fitness and weight loss inside out and back to front, the place is a scam!!! During the 2 week training ( YES a whole 2 weeks is apparently enough for you to be able to train and instruct people how to lose weight-if it was that easy why does it take 2 years full time to train as a personal trainer?!!!! And one of those weeks are spent learning how to sell a membership) EVERYTHING they taught me contradicted what I had been taught by the YMCA. In my opinion, doing half an hour, 3 minutes each on 10 stations, is NOT enough to lose weight and tone muscles. It is expensive and a waste of time. Since I left I have had DOZENS of ladies who exercised there telling me they have left, they lost no weight, some even gained weight and they thought it was a waste of time and money. Gymophobics is a novelty niche for people who are easily convinced when the sale technique is polished, which it should be as you spend 1 of the 2 weeks of training learning sale techniques!!!!

43 gymophobics in the UK now with well over 50,000 members, most of which ARE losing weight and inches! Not only that they are fitter, have more energy, enjoy going and find it a great place to meet new friends - which you can't say about most conventional gyms. I've been a member of conventional gyms most of my life and apart from the very first induction you dont get any help from the instructors at all! You are generally left to work it out for yourself and god knows what damage you could do to yourself if when you dont know what you're doing! So any training they may have isnt shared with the members if you ask me!!! Gymophobics IS a great place to join if you feel intimidated by the conventional gym or if you don't have a lot of time to spare, also to best bit is that you have VIP attention from the staff at all times, giving encouragement and ensuring that the member is performing the exercise correctly. After the initial 2 weeks training ( which does not include sales - the sales course is completely seperate ) there is ongoing training at your respective gym and further courses available to attend. 50,000 women can't be wrong!!

I was a member of gymophobics up till monday this week.... when the receivers were called in. In my area in the past week it is the third to shut down (as well as two in the Leics area). The other 2 in Notts shut down with no notice to clients, we were supposed to have a new investor last friday ...who then changed her mind and pulled out of the deal, leaving the one i go to with no option but to close too ( all three belonged to the same franchisee) The staff had been unpaid for weeks and were unaware of the situation until the friday before, they tried their hardest to find new investors. Many people has taken out new memberships (offered buy 1 year get 1 year free until Feb time) My memership was till Sept 09. The head office in Stafford don't seem to care, don't bother to reply to calls or e-mails. Its a franchise ...not our problem attitude.
It appears Motorcise customers seem to be having similar problems with 10 of their premises closing without notice. I would warn people to be very wary of these gyms. Yes they are a good idea, I've lost weight and inches in my time going and made great friendships. But where do you stand if they go bust ...like many seem to be doing.... if you pay by debit card or cash for annual membership you're at the bottom of the pile, with a credit card you may have a chance of getting a refund. I was paying £28 a month before switching to a brilliant offer of 18 months for £195, how much of the 18 monthd have I got...... 15 days. Luckily i paid by CC so may get it back, but then again like many others I may not, it all depends on the CC company now.. SO BEWARE what at the time may seem like a saving may well end up in a loss. Sorry for the essay !!!!

I go to Curves aswell, and I swear by it, no its not bogus nor a placebo of any kind, it really does work! Obviously you have to put in the effort with regards to diet and make sure you can go 3 times a week!
It was £90 joining fee, then £24 per month thereafter. Sometimes I go 5 times a week. I have been 32 times and have lost 19" and 14lbs. My body feels much firmer and I have more go in me. I love it!! xxxxxx |
