Keeping the water warm whilst doing a pedicure?? -
22-01-07, 04:59 PM
Ok, this may sound like a daft question..... but when you are doing a pedicure what do you do to keep the water warm? At christmas i used the raw earth products for the first time, practising on my mum, the whole pedicure took approx 1 hour but half way through the water was cold. I would not want this to happen if i was doing a client. And i started off by filling the bowl with slightly hotter water, hoping it would stay warm.
I dont really want to use a foot spa, i would rather use a nice bowl with some stones in the bottom etc. so what does eveyone else do? |

yes I found that too!
I have a footspa at home that has an infra red thingy on it that keeps the water at the same temperature. You cpuld keep a thermos flask near you that has hot water in it so you can top it up!!! carrie x |

I use the beverlyhills foot spa with disposable liners, it has a vibrate, heat or vibrate & heat option, its been worth every penny spent on it as it does a great job abd keeps the water at just the right temp throughout the treatment.
Before when i used to use a bowl i would always ask the client to let me know if the water became cool and i would top it up with more warm. hth. |

I have the Beverley Hills Footspa and it's fab, and the heater is awesome, in fact I have to turn it off as the water gets too hot! I know you said you didn't want a spa, but it has disposable liners which makes cleaning a doddle, an extra deep bowl and it's just the mutts nuts! There have been quite a few threads about it.
If you really want a bowl, then you will just have to keep replacing the water! (LMAO Teresa you beat me to it! Those disposable liners are just awesome, saves me about20 minutes of cleaning time! I always put a new one in and throw it away in front of the client so they know they are not sharing their pedicure with the last client's feet!) |

Unless you are using a footspa that keeps the water at temperature, I don't know what you can do.
If you are using stones, could you put them in boiling water to heat through (like hot stone therapy) beforehand. They might help to keep the water warm for longer, although you'd have to be carefull about them not being to hot for your clients feet. |

Look out for second hand spas in the local papers etc especially now. People get them for christmas and never use them.Ive bought 3 at various times and only ever paid at most £15.

Just as an FYI, make sure you get them PAT tested by an electrician so that you are covered by current legislation. If you didn't and your client got an electric shock because it is faulty then you will probably be voiding your insurance and be working against the law. HTH
