Are you aggrevated by people holding and talking into their mobiles whilst driving?

IMO, it is virtually impossible to concentrate fully on driving (or the driving actions of other road-users for that matter) when someone is busy gassing away on the phone, usually about something totally unimportant.

New law has now come into effect, resulting in a £60.00 instant fine (previously £30.00) plus 3 endorsement points added to the driving licence of the offender if caught.

About bloomin' time if you ask me ... I just hope that the police enforce these new rules as too many people have been getting away with it for too long.

PS: I think you are still allowed to use "hands free", although I feel that the use of mobiles in any shape or form whilst driving should be totally banned.

I agree, and when I see someone driving a massive lorry round a roundabout, steering this monster of a thing with their elbow it makes me so mad, do they not think for a second of the huge huge amount of damage their lorry could cause if their elbow slipped. GGRRRRR it makes me mad!

It has been illegal here for ages...but no one seemed to care/bother. Maybe now with the thought of 3 points on their licence they will!!!

Oh an BTW I think Big Macs should be illegal anyway!!!!

To travel by car the distance from my local MacDonald to the end of my street seems to be the exact same time it takes to eat a Big Mac....going by the amount of wrappers flung out of cars there!!!!!

I don't think they realise that they are endangering other peoples lives by using mobile phone at same time or they don't care.

What i don't understand is that the majority of people i see doing it all have expensive cars surely they can afford bluetooth !!!

I got a thing that plugs into your lighter socket. It has a speaker and a mic on it and works very bluetooth so you just put your phone on the dash, press a button on the thing when it rings and talk hands free.

No wires etc

Quite good for 20 odd notes, carphone warehouse I think.

It's illegal in Spain, 3 points added and a fine too, don't know what the fines are, but then again a lot of the time I'm positive they decide what the fine will be when they pull you over

I have been guilty of it in the past, after nearly driving into a skip early evening (have done that several times.... those skips are deadly....)...

...but it makes so much more sense to pull over and park. Much easier to concentrate on your conversation then.

I never answer my phone whilst driving....i'd have to find it first in my tip of a handbag...

Hands up.....I do smoke whilst driving.

As to hands free and phones....do any of you think that its still wrong...do you think that its not just about having 2 hands on the wheel but also to be concentrating on whats around you and on the road than in a convo with someone....???...xx

As fond as I am of you Angie, I do think smoking whilst driving should carry the same penalty as using ones mobile. I watched once whilst a driver took a puff with one hand whilst changing gear with the other..... er......which meant.......... no hands on the sterring wheel.

If new penalties have been bought in though for driving mobile phone users, then it will only be of any use if the law actually enforces it. It's not currently enforced so why should another penalty change that?

Absolutly....i don't think its right at all..i was just holding my hands up to it...have to say i hold my fag in my mouth when changing gear (like fag ash Lil) and never drive with no hands, but if i was stopped and punished for driving while smoking i would take it on the chin....cos i know its not the ideal way to drive.

i admit i smoke whilst driving, i do have an automatic though ...but if the law brought in a law against it then no probs..but using a phone..is different your trying to listen to that person whilst driving you cannot concentrate on both, were as to me smoking is different......calms the road rage attacks i have of van drivers up my arse......pmsl

Although its illegal the amount of people doing it doesn't seem to have gone down at all. The kids and I have to walk to school on a path that goes around a busy roundabout with a crossing just off it. The amount of times people take to the pavement (on the roundabout) or go over the red light on the crossing is unbelieveable. And yes 9 times out 0f 10 they'll be on the phone!
