Oh no, how terrible!!!
Yeah, if he / she is insured you could ring them as they pay for adverts etc for the safe return of the pets Why don't you get some posters ready so that if he / she doesn't return tonight then you are able to put a poster up everywhere 1st thing I really hope you find your dog!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

Oh no poor you. We lost our dog when he decided to chase a deer off into the distance. We searched for hours and when we got home there he was by the front door! Dogs have a better radar system than you think so let's hope your beloved pooch comes home safe and sound.
Does he have your phone number on a dog tag? Are you insured, because they can help sometimes? Also pets can get stuck in people's sheds or garages, have you tried yours? Otherwise it's going to have to be a wait til the morning and phone all the local vets and rescue centres, and failing that get some leaflet printed up and pin them around everywhere and leaflet drop them. Hope you find him hun, it really is a horrible worry

Oh no I hope he comes back to you soon
I accidentally left the door open to my boyfriends mums house a few weeks ago & the dog was off. We thought we'd never see him again as he is not scared of traffic, people, animals & he can't even be let off his lead as he refuses to come back. After about half an hour of driving round village we gave up (it was pitch black) then he came racing up the road thinking it was a big game ! I felt awful & it wasn't even my dog so can't imagine how you feel but just hope he comes back of his own accord like ours & sassys

Does he wear a collar? If he does maybe try the local police station and see if anyone has been in touch about a "found" dog. This is the first thing I would do. The obviously see if any neighbours have seen him and get them to check garages and sheds. If he has a number on his collar and is chipped chances are you will have him back by morning so try not to worry too much hun. easier said than done I know.
Get posters ready and also contact insurance, they help with costs of advertising for his safe return in case he is not back by morning. Try the company that his chip is registered with and see if anyone has called regarding a lost dog. They have the details of where that particular dog is registered so the place that has him scanned may just not have called you yet. Hope you find him soon.Mine does it all the time and I go chasing down the road with an unwilling 2 yr old in tow and finally get home and there is the bloody dog!!!. Good Luck Rachel xxxxxx |

Thank you for your posts. I have phoned the microchip people and they have logged into their system that he is missing. I phoned our vet number which referred us to another number. The guy I spoke to was very kind but said that realistically we had to wait until morning to get answers.
I am going to have to get through the night, I know. How, I don't know? Is my doggy hurt somewhere and pining? Has he been stolen? Is he lost? He is not just our dog. He is a family member and sleeps at our feet and licks or fingers and sniff our crotches as dogs do.................. and we love him for it |

Oh gosh Tracey, hope your pooch turns up asap,I remember losing ours, years ago.We had just moved house and one of the kiddies left the front door open.It was a while before we even noticed she had gone.
We searched the streets for hours, knocking doors asking if anyone had seen her.Came home and went to bed totally exhausted about 2 am. Then approx 6am heard what I thought was a seagull(lived in Weymouth then, lots of gulls)anyway, looked out of the window and there was our bedraggled Yorky. We were so pleased to see her,she slept all day, never knew what she'd been up to but guess she must have had a lovely time painting the town red, lol. Seriously I will be thinking of you and keeping fingers and toes crossed that your dog finds their way home safetly to you soon.
