I started sugaring first as the lady that used to do my sugaring was moving over to France and wanted someone to take over her clients when she left. As she was a tutor she asked if I would be interested in her training me. Didn't have to think long about it, did my course, got my certificate and found I loved it. So I thought I know nails look easy (how wrong was I) I'll do that.
Firstly though I had to do a manicure/pedicure course before progressing onto enhancements. As I was on working tax credit at the time, I could get my courses very cheaply, so I decided to do cosmetic make up also. I was 43 when I started my courses and am 47 this year, so I am even later coming into nails and beauty than you, but I LOVE IT. I love it so much I have recently given up my employed job to go self employed full time. I am still working on the enhancement side of things and to be honest am not asked for enhancements very much but I do keep practising. So, I am following my dream, working for myself in a profession I am passionate about. I intend to keep on learning by continuing my education both in the classroom and reading books and of course by geeking. |

Ive wanted to do nails for about 9 years now, Ive always done my friends and families nails, manicures pedicures, no enhancements though! It was just a case of not being able to afford to do it for me. I chose to go with Creative after alot of reasearch, then started to save.
In this time weve had 2 children, got married etc, so some money has been pinched from my fund, but last year I had enough to start my courses! I have finally found my calling in life!! Yay!!! |

I was 25 with three kids under the age of 5 and no job..........
I've always had an artistic side to me .....this was the best way of expressing it and getting paid at the same time..... |

I used to work in an office, gave up to have my babies and revel in a few years of full on mummyhood (I loved every minute), then did my training in gel nails ready to start when the youngest started full time school (and I was 37). Then I trained in l&p and fibreglass/silks about a year later.
I wanted a) something totally different to do, bored with office life b) something to fit around the family and be a bit flexible c) something I adored. Happily I found nails and it ticks all the right boxes for me! What a joy it is to do something you love and get paid for it! |

I was a Secretary when I left school up to when my first was born 12 yrs ago. Then, when my second child was in nursery I watched my mate have her nails done in her home (l&P) and then had mine done a week later. I was hooked!!!
I wanted to work and be a mum at home and I have always loved things about nails. I have never looked back or given up. Nails is here to stay! |
