I originally wrote this as a blog but a few geeks suggested I turn it into a thread.

I have noticed lately that some posts give out totally the wrong impression to potential clients (or even worse existing ones!) I won't point the finger but I have actually cringed when I have read comments about clients feet, houses, etc.

There is a way to word things diplomatically (sp) rather than put 'yeah i had a client last week with the skankiest trotters you'd ever see' That is just an example btw !!

Lots of websites link back the the geek site and also some of us geeks link from our websites to this site, also we now have the consumer forum and I can imagine some clients would be horrified if they read some of the posts on here.

Don't get me wrong im not saying we shouldn't share experiences but I really think we should consider what a potential client (especially one that has never been to a beauty/hair salon before) would think if we are going into great detail about xyz clients hygene (again another example).

I think you are right in what you say and that we all need a reminder now and then that everyone can view this site.

In this litigous (sp?) world we live in what we write here could be classed as libel, so please refrain from mentioning names, whether it is clients or companies you have dealings with.

Unless of course, you are praising them. No one is going to threaten to take you to court for ruining their business if you are praising them LOL.

Good advice hun, I agree there have been a few too many threads of late that are'nt lets say flattering to our clients, and as you say there are ALOT of sites that link back to here!

It's not just about actual client reading it, but the general public. If we want to be treated like professionals, all of our posts should be professional, even when we're complaining. I agree that it's all in the way you say.

Even in blogs, we should be comfortable with anything we write being read by our family, friends and clients. It's easy enough for someone to register so they can view blogs too!

Very good point about clients coming on this site.............not to mention colleagues or salon owners who geeks may be having a moan about.

I agree with everything you've all wrote, particuarly about the general public & colleagues.

Many people still percieve (sp) people in the beauty industry as being a bit thick and just wanting to paint nails all day without us making unneccessary comments about colleagues, bosses, clients etc !!

You where right hun to start a thread, just a little reminder......to peeps...this is the "world wide web" people see and read all.

Great idea for a thread though, I think it's a good reminder before posting. I often have a rant about something then later I wish I hadn't said anything.

You can always go back and edit it if it's really cringeworthy!
