I posted this on another thread but thought I'd put it here incase people didn't see it.

I was wondering about the possibility of a southern geek meet for Christmas, and wondered out of interest if any geeks in the kent/sussex/essex/london areas knew of the town East Grinstead, in West Sussex?
It's just off the M23 (near Gatwick) and was trying to work out if it was equidistant (sp??) from a lot of geeks? I think it works out as halfway between Brighton and London and I know there is a Wetherspoons pub there (v cheap drinks) with lots of big, squishy sofas in it. There's also a Travel Inn in the town, and lots of hotels.
I have to admit, I'm only 20 minutes away from it so I'm a bit biased, and it might not be as easy as Central London, but I wondered if it was in the middle of a circle that would encompass enough geeks to make it worth while travelling if it was a big xmas get together?
Just a thought!

I'm in London and could get there depending on day/time.

Was thinking a Friday or Saturday evening and making it a big night out/xmas party type thing, though of course that depends on people's work hours. Obviously a proper date would have to be picked nearer the time I guess.
What days would people find easiest to have off/be free, accounting also for possibly being too hung over to work the next day Wetherspoons do fab cocktails.... in jugs....!

Saturdays is good for me as Sunday is the only day the builder's yard opposite doesn't start up at 7am, so I can afford to have a headache!!
Shall we say late November - does December start to get too manic for people? Or early December?
If people either PM or post here the Saturdays they're free, we could see if there is one date that suits everyone?
And for anyone who wants to know, I think the Premier Travel Inn is something like £45 a night at the weekend?? For some reason the prices they have up outside it are cheaper than standard, no idea why! But as most ppl prob know, the rooms can sleep up to 4 I think, so if people are coming from far and wide, or even not so far but don't want to pay for a taxi... A £45 room divided by 4 people is probably much cheaper than a taxi ride

Eeeek, now got to get my nails looking good - can't go to a geek meet with nasty nails!

I will probably be up for that, I'll have to see how my pennies go as I'm not working at the moment and need to pay out for another course next year. Let us know when it is and time extra and of course I will let you know if I'm going to stay or not so I can book in and make up a four.

Either date is fine by me!
There is also November 20th if people are getting too busy nearer to December.
Maybe if everyone else can post which dates (20th/27th/4th) they can or can't make, we hopefully can find one that we can all do??
