You REALLY don't want the snow I get. If you do a search, you'll come across threads with pictures of the snow we get. It's INSANE.

This is a video I did from our front window last year, BEFORE we got the big hit of snow....


After that, it got worse.

I know it's hard for you guys, as you aren't prepared in terms of snow removal equipment, and proper attire, and winter tires..... but I really do get a giggle out of your suffering and I'm so sorry, but it tickles my funny bones how difficult you all find it.

That video of snow... we were still going to work/school/shopping and whatever other everyday stuff there is. I don't have chains on my tires and I don't drive a 4 x 4 truck, and I drive through it. Nose plastered to the window, wipers going at top speed, dressed like an inuit
I'd LOVE for one of you to come in February for a visit and you can have a real good look. It's rather insane and I sometimes wish I lived on your side of the big pond because I REALLY HATE snow!!!!!

Victoria you have no idea how completely 'unprepared' our country is for ANY type of weather. If it rains too much - we get flooding. If it doesn't rain we get draughts (but the stupid thing is... how can that possibly be when we get so much rain???) and if we get snow... well... it all goes to hell in a hand basket!!

People can't drive - we don't have proper gloves. All we have is UGGS and they're not water proof so they're useless in this type of weather (although they are great as slippers...)..

But it's fun watching kids sledge!!!

I wish we had snow here it would defo feel like home, lol.

Its not bad up here today as opposed to yesterday I had to do a Geisha walk to get to my car and then i had no luck opening the door, lol, had to get in via passenger side, what a laugh!

Unprepared is the exact word, Samantha. Back home it gets up do -20 in winter and i remember when i was wee mum used to attach cheap cheese greaters to the bottom of boots so we will not break our necks on the ice, lol!

You are so right Samantha - we have probably had at least 5 or 6 inches of snow overnight! None of the roads have been gritted, all the buses have been cancelled, no post, no schools open or anything!

Hubby was meant to be flying to Belfast first thing this morning, but the taxi driver wouldn't drive up the hill - which didn't really matter, because all the flights for the morning were cancelled!

It was lovely looking out of the window before it started to thaw - it looked liked something out of Narnia! Just waiting for the "Wicked Witch" to come out of the distance on her sledge

There's just th snow and ice here from the past two days, but the whole world looks covered in a layer of freezing fog. I've got to go out laer to pick my daughter up from her train to take her to her home. Her hubby has the car today and she doesn't want to walk home. However, she is 8 months pregnant, so I guess I should do it as a special favour! LOL Means I have to get dressed though!

Samantha, it must be lovely in your work if you can go there to lounge in your huge PJs. I think you've been wearing them for days. I hope you've at least changed them! LOL

It's a heatwave here in Costa del Clacton! Well, compared to you guys it is anyway.

The sun's out, the wind has dropped but it's really cold though so I'm wearing my new black Uggs to work (don't tell my husband though because he still thinks they're still in the box as they're for my Chrimble pressie).

Hope everyone thaws out in time for the weekend.

I LUUUUUUUV snow! we never get it here anymore, my daughter is 5 and shes only ever built a snowman at the chill factore!!! how rubbish is that BRING it on thats what i say but only at the weekend!!

I almost wish we weren't prepared so that hubby could take a day off work now and then and be with the family
I love watching the kids sled too, they have a blast.
Seriously, though, if ever any of you want to cross the pond in the winter months and come for a visit, I would LOVE to show you how crazy it is here and what fun too.
We have a huge winter carnival with giant ice sculptures that have restaurants in them etc (as big as a building) in Quebec city and all sorts of craziness.
You'd have a blast.

What are you going to do if we organise a full-on coach trip and all descend on you at the same time?

Oh, Uggs are flat sheepskin boots which are hated by men (deemed very unsexy) but loved by most women - those who've ever worn them anyway. Keep your feet lovely and warm without overheating and getting sweaty.

None of the white stuff down here yet ... just the way I like it

Here was me quietly celebrating the fact that the snow had decided to avoid us
When home comes my hubby and said that 3 inches had fallen I never noticed as I had closed all the curtains in the house
All of this happened in just over an hour so god knows what it is going to be like here tomorrow if it doesn't stop

We'll manage the Canadian way

I'll borrow the tent trailers from friends (I know of 3 available, with heaters inside, they sleep 8 each). I'll have my kids build a giant igloo across the street at the children's park.
I'll borrow the giant BBQ from another friend and we'll roast turkey's in it (yes, Canadians do this very often and I'm NOT kidding! I have one friend that cooks a large part of their xmas breakfast on the BBQ lol).
We'll beg-borrow-steal spair sleeping bags. Borrow camping stoves (propane colemans). I have 1 reg chesterfield/couch/sofa, 1 that is a hide-a-bed, 2 loveseats, and plenty of floor.

Whoever doesn't mind a snuggly cat who likes to get under covers & curl against your belly, and a snoring/snuffling/slurping/farting 13yr old pekingese (who's very affectionate while arthritic so can't jump up on the bed) can sleep in the basement on the hide-a-bed. But beware of kids that rise early (6am) and head down there for their morning show and toys.

I have tea-pots, and kettles and coffee makers a plenty (about 5 diff kinds of tea, and 4 diff kinds of coffee). No alcohol, sorry, but it's cheap on the Indian reserve 5min drive away.

For these amenities, you'll have to take a number: 2 bathrooms, one with tub/shower. 2 computers.

We have cable, and about 400 movies (my best friend gives me all kinds for all the baby stuff I gave her and won't accept payment...)

I cook pretty darn well. Hubby will likely hide (anti-social/shy lol).
Ummmm I like to eat English food and make good yorkshire pudding, but haven't had Trifle in YEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRS
I have mint sauce, chutney, and a restaurant not far away that delivers english style fish and chips (damn good too!!!).

Ummm I'm sure there's other things that are of interest, but it's past my bedtime and I've just had a brainfart

Across the bridge, to reach downtown Montreal that's 15 to 30min drive away (depending on time of day traffic) we have a GIANT underground shopping extravaganza that's about umm I "think" 6 shopping centers all connected underground?

Really? Men here love uggs. Usually when paired with a mini skirt, lol. I have a pair, but only get to wear them for one day every year. They are so comfy, but it's just too hot for them.
