I have a client who has spent the best part of £1000 on having her bikini line lasered and she still has to have it waxed. I have seen the disclaimer forms and you have to sign to say that you understand that it may not work and that you are aware that the pigment of your skin may change colour etc. On the flip side I have a client who has had her lip done and is very happy with the results.

Hiya,
I too have spent the best part of £1,000 on this proceedure. It still riles me when I see it advertised as permenant. The hair does stay away for a long time but it does come back. My proceedures were carried out by a leading person in this field who has written a book and spoken at seminars at beauty shows. So I think if mine came back ..... |

Glo, has your hair grown back finer or sparser (or should it be 'more sparse'? Grammar head not on this morning...), or has it come back exactly the same?
I shave my arms, not because the hair is dark, it's very pale and fine but there is quite a lot of it and I get cold easily so it all sticks up like a bear.... My dad used to call me Christmas Tree Arms (in a totally loving way, of course I'd stop shaving it if I could find something that would make it finer but I don't like having to grow it in between for waxing Lol x |

Hi, I've had laser hair removel to my lip and chin and i had to have a course of 6 treatments and i am very happy with the results. Some areas on the body respond better than others. They can never make garentees as no 2 people are the same. I have found that the hair that has grown back is alot finer. I have for years tried different methods all with no success, and alot just gave me more problems ie SPOTS/SCARS!!
I had mine treatment done by LASERCARE and it was in a NHS hospital by fully Qualified Nurses, all i can say they were very honest with me and they never made any promises. They give free consultations and if you phone them they are happy to send information pack out to you. Heather x |

Having had a long chat with the environmental health officer for our council the other day (boy does she like to go off on a tangent!), she mentioned that a local salon had been doing laser treatment..... oh before I carry on I really should say I haven't a clue of what I am talking about, only passing on what she said lol ........ and were led to believe that the equipment was a class 2 laser, when in fact it was a class 3 something or other and not suitable for the treatments. The distributor hadn't checked it out properly and were selling it without checking their facts with the importer (or soemthing like that), and didn't understand that they were selling the wrong laser for beauty therapy.
So like someone has said, cheap doesn't mean good. Be careful!! |

I'm not one hundred per cent sure as I don't do laser (I do electrolysis) but I'm sure it will depend on the pigmentation of the hair (melanin, like the skin, for dark hair, theomelanin for light hair and tricosiderin for red hair) and it works best with dark hair.
This is the bit that I'm really not sure about - so don't quote me - but if it's like electrolysis, it will depend on which stage the hair is removed if it is the growing stage (anagen) then the follicle will be killed and won't come back but if it's any other stage then it will - But like i said, i don't do laser, so am not sure. As heather said, you're probably best phoning and talking to the person who will be doing it |

Geri ... The hair did grow back 'sparser',
I have very dark hair, almost black ... aparently Im an ideal candidate for the treatment. I wont say the name of what was used on me because I dont want to go trashing them, just to say they are one of the biggest if not 'the' biggest in the industry and treat thread veins and port wine marks too I wouldnt rule out having laser again, the hair stays away for a long time, its just that I paid expensively on the understanding that it was permenant. I think, as others have said, as long as they dont make this permenant promise to you then it is a good method to go with. Heather how long ago did you have your treatment? |

Hi Glo, I had my last treatment june this year, i had one a month and started in january this year. They were completely honest with me and told me that they dont garentee that it is permenant. In the consultation they acessed the hair colour etc, as to which laser to use on me. I paid 300 for the treatment, and yes i agree it is very expensive. But in the confidence it has given me back is priceless.
