Well... I went on Solglo course only today! Course was short and sweet, no pressure to buy kit, held in a room @ Sallys, no frills (no coffee!), trainer nice, GOOD FOR £25 to enable you to get certificate for Insurance. Suits me!
Am now looking to buy the pop-up booth from spray tan co - anyone used one? Worth money? Big enough? x |

I did the solglo training and thought it was great for the money it does teach you how to spray tan the body!! it goes through the steps, how to overcome spraying too much etc, they do use the hvlp machine and the trainer goes through with you exactly how to use it and i have purchased the machine and have sprayed about 3 people so far and although i do not use the solglo solution i am at the moment using Bali Sun i still find it is fine. The training isnt great by all means but i am guessing spray tan and self applying tans are slightly different it certainly teaches you the basics and for £25 it is worth it. They certainly do not pressure you to buy the kit but of course they are teaching you to use their kit. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to learn the basics and at a cheap price - 'cheap isnt always better' imo i cant see what else you would need to know as far as i saw it they taught you everything you needed to know to spray tan a body maybe i am wrong? x x

I agree with you Kelly - I thought the course was well worth £25. I did already have a bit of a head start as I currently do spray tanning at my place of work, but the HVLP is good enough for me and to use on family looking for a tan! Does the Bali Sun go orangey at all? The trainer sprayed me yesterday with the Solglo, and the colours not bad, but think it could be better - slightly orangey! Found some great tips on spray tanning on www.spraytancubicle.com - take a look sometime. Will prob purchase the cubicle, expensive but so easy! Gutted you got coffee and biscuit on your course - I was gasping after an hours drive too! x |

HI, new to all this, so apologise if its all wrong!
I have just bought a pop up cubicle from the people at tampabaytan.com. in America. They have a cubicle on ebay all the time, placed a bid, but lost out at the last minute! I contacted them to see if I could purchase another cubicle for the winning price and they said ok! 5 days later I received my pop up cubicle! The cubicle was $81, and posting was $51. Altogether about 80 something pounds. Works out a lot cheaper than any I have seen in this country! Just thought I'd share this with you all! Bye for now. xxx |

It's hellishly expensive (200 approx inc vat) but I have to say, it's worth every penny! It does exactly what says - it's easy to clean and really easy to put up and down (once you've tried a few times I can't say anything negative whatsoever about the product, just the price. And it's too late now anyway, coz I've bought one and used it! Hey ho! toodleoo! |

DOUBLE RATS!
I DID THE SAME... mine arrived on Friday! But as you say - it's great! I think they are expensive, but well worth the money. I am only playing with mine on family at the mo, but hope in the future to be able to charge for this spray tanning service. Tell me, do you any of you ask your clients to sign a disclaimer beforehand? If so, did you purchase client cards or create them yourself - and if so, what do they say? x |

I would not spray anyone without a full consultation first. There are so many issues that could come back and bite you! (LOL)! I made one up myself, using some of the terms we have on our nail consultations cards. Also, you must get signatures from paying clients by law, plus keep appropriate records. You should also get the appropriate insurance - I'm with the ANT (Woodgate Insurance) for nails, and it cost me £24 for a year to add on the tanning part.
If you PM me with your email address I'd be happy to send you a copy of the form I use. It's a word document. regards |

Hi there
I did the solglo training last week and thought it was OK for the money. I had already done some research about contra-indications but she did mention pregnancy which I guess is obvious, but hadn't thought about breast feeding. The trainer said to avoid chest area completely, so now added that to my form. Any of you who use the argos compressor, how have you found it? Regards Deb739 |

Forgotten about this thread but thought I'd do a quick update.
Had the 'training' on Tuesday, I have to say, the lady was great, but I think United Beauty are being a bit shoddy: as far as our trainer was concerned, this wasn't meant to be a certificated training session. In her words 'but I don't see how I can give you a certifiate without one on one training?'. United Beauty had pitched it to all of us there that this was a proper training session and we would all be spraying each other, and leave with full body tans (it says so on their literature and the confirmation letters we were given). Sue (our trainer) found this very odd as we wouldn't have the time (nor the amount of solution, thanks to a cock-up on the Sally's behalf) to spray each other. What we did get was a demo on any of us who wanted one, some talk about the system and contra-indications, and then the offer to buy the kit at a reduced price (£595 ex VAT rather than £695), with free one-on-one training after that. We did go for it because the PROPER training and aftercare package seemed very good - our kit arrives on Monday and on Wednesday Sue comes round to spend the whole day with us working with it. She also leaves her mobile number for us to contact her any time, and will make as many other visits to us (all free) as we like if we have any problems. But the way United Beauty are pitching this is very wrong - essentially we paid £25 each for a demo, sales pitch and a cup of coffee, so out of the 5 of us who were there, the 2 I think who didn't decide to buy the kit really got nothing out of it. Have to say, though, that they offer the most in their kit for the amount of money: cubicle, 2 litres of tan, compressor and spray gun (it's not just a plug-in gun like those in Argos), disposible underwear and caps, leaflets, posters, aftercare sheets, postcards, and 3 each of all the retail items. Mum had her torso, arms and face done, and it's a really nice colour, and not that stinky, especially compared to some we've tried. It's funny that some trainers are prepared to certificate on these courses, but then it seems like some people got more on their day than others. I'm hoping I can take it as a good thing that Sue didn't think the day was enough, and she seems very comitted to helping us out (and also at having a go at Sally's, who, even though they have Solglo products on 3-for-2 this month, won't stock them on the shelves and are treating them as a special order!). She comes from Reading so will be driving a long way to train us, and presumably for no extra money as we don't pay anything more for it. But then maybe United Beauty can afford to do that if they keep getting £30 a head for nothing! |
