my son had ps3 last year but found most of his mates got x boxes as they were cheaper. I didn't really think this mattered but apparently when playing online games the two use different servers so he ended up saving for an x-box just so he could play with his mates!

You probably won't want them going online yet anyway at their ages, they will be coming into contact with all sorts, adults often play the games and bring with it adult language etc.
They have a headset and talk to eachother and the other people entering the game. Its quite addictive i have trouble getting my son off and rather than being outside mixing with eachother in the real world they are all chatting away via headsets The games are made in such a way to make them addictive. In hindsite i would not have let him go online but he's nearly 15 now he wasn't on it till 14.I definately wouldn't have let him at 10. I doubt whether there are many online games for your childrens age group anyway. So i wouldn't worry about that aspect and by the time they are old enough they will probably want or need a new one. Hope that helps. |

Your right I wouldnt want them playing on the internet
They do really get into these games, I'm lucky living in a small village all the kids are out in their camps most of the time but when they do get on the ps the house could burn down around them and they wouldnt know ! |

No i used to think they were great gave me some peace but the on line thing is definately not good so keep them away for as long as you can.My sons friends will actually all go home if they are together so they can all play a game together and then that game can last hours.you can imagine trying to get them off mid game when its late or there's homework to do.Or you just want them back in the real world. Then of course you have no real control over who they are playing with they can play with people all over the world.Which can be good but can also be very bad. |

They really have you dont see any chalk hop scotches on the pavements anymore or kids playing skipping across the roads with a long washing line.Such a shame and no wonder there are such a lot of overweight kids.
