Ruined 80's permed frazzled hair help please!? - 03-08-08, 12:52 PM

Hi everyone. I'm not a hair geek but thougt I'd see if anyone could give me some tips!

My hair is shoulder length and for some stupid reason a few months ago, I had my hair permed.(My worst PMT mistake ever!) Not being a hairdresser, I loved the way my hair looked when tonged and thought it might be a bit like that...Anyway, it looked so 80's I couldn'd deal with it so I attempted to straighten it with ghd's.

To cut a long story short, it is so frazzled, dry, broken, frizzy and damaged, I would have to cut it to about 4 inches to get rid of it which I don't want to do. I've been advised not to attempt to colour it at least until Xmas.

I went to the hairdresser last week and had 3 or 4 inches cut off and a Goldwell Effects treatment applied. The thing is, I have been told to go back every 4-6 weeks for a new one...It cost's £70.00 for a trim and treatment. Do you hair geeks rate this treatment or can someone give me some advice as to a good treatment / conditioner I can use in between? (I have a Sallys card if that helps as I'm a nail geek?) I am happy to carry on going back to the hairdresser but just wondering what you guys think as you are hair geeks and I'm not!

Thanks,
Sam

Hi sam
i know where you are coming from hun, i did this quite a few years ago and hated the result too, then i had it chemically straightened and it was worse
wash your hair and towel dry, then use about a quarter of a pinkie sized bottle of solar oil, put this onto your hair and wrap your head with cling film, leave it on for at least half an hour then shampoo out and let your hair dry naturally,
it will leave it in much better condition and you can do this as often as you like and it is no where near as expensive as the treatment you had at the hairdressers hth

Hiyah

I know exactly how you feel as I also had an 80's porno look perm put on my hair last year ready for wedding, OMFG!! I looked bloody awful, anyway I invested in the Wella SP hair care range which helped my hair, the power mask is the best treatment for you to use, I have had my hair chemically straightened now and I really ensure my hair is looked after.

hth
