I'm pretty new to this and have been reading a lot of stuff on here. The course I did provided me with a kit which included tips but I would like to try some of the CND tips (as well as other stuff) after reading all the good things a lot of you say about this make. Thing is. My course did not teach me anything about blending tips (just stick them on and overlay)or removing the shine from them. Also, can I use the glue I have with CND tips or do I need to buy theirs? If I have to blend them, how do I do that. Sorry for being long winded but any help and advice would be apreciated.

Hi all,

First of all Yayayayayyay!! I'm all booked on to a course to start in January and learn this awesome trade that you all talk of. Will take me a while to qualify and a lot of practice from what I gather, but I can't wait. I hope it's gonna be pretty rewarding to do a great looking set of nails!! woooooo wooo. Anywho, is there anything I can do before the course to get ahead? Any books you can recommend? It's the OPI course I'm booked on....

Also - boooooo coz I've been having biogel on my nails (done by nails inc in a debenhams) and they've been so cr@p the last few times. This time all my own nails have split at the sides, causing the gel to lift and stuff to get inbetween my nail and the gel. I've taken the gel off myself because i needed to cut the nail - they were breaking so far down it would have been nasty if they'd caught on something!! (sorry for the lack of proper technical terms!). Soooo I won't be going back to Debenhams. Should my nails have been very flexible with the gel on? I've always had flexible/soft nails and with biogel on I thought they'd of been a bit stronger. The girl that did them didn't really seem to know what else she could do. I know it's my fault that I took them off, but should they of split down the sides?

Ooooo I'm so excited to be becoming a part of all this nail malarkey!!

hi nail geeks i was wondering if any off you could advise me on the brand and system you use for silk wraps, i dont really get much call for silk or fiberglass but i have had a few this week wanting them, i trained with the dream and to be honest i dont like it at all, i have also tied the soft touch which i got from nsi which i also dont like i think its the brush on activator i dont get along with it seems to take ages to set i think i would prefer a system with the spray activator. i do like the idea of a system with a builder resin to build a good arch,

can anyone advise me on a good system that has a builder resin and a spray activator as there is so many around and trying to pick a good one is difficult

thanks in advance

I use CND products on my clients and normally have no problems. I have a few clients that work in factories and really want to wear my nails. I work in a "asian" salon, although i'm american, and I have access to an Acetone-resistant top coat.

On my one client, she works with ink thinners that are so strong they will literally melt the acrylic as the thinner runs across her finger. I really want to keep her as a client, she is so fabulous, but i worry about her nails. They frequently lift because of her chemicals, and the topcoat i have to use to keep the polish on will make the nail surface gooey. I know this is not a good way to do her services but it the only way to keep them on. She's developing "greenies" on some fingers because of the lifting. I'm not sure if there is anything chemically i can do for her to help her keep the enhancements or to prevent the greenies. I really don't think she will go natural though, because she came specifically wanting enhancements.

I would suggest she take a break but i'd still have to use that topcoat and polish because she has the greenies on about 6 of 10 fingers. I'm really frusterated, but sheunderstands why they are that way and is still very happy with her services. I'm not tho....
