aaaaaaaaargh help pls, going blonde!!!???!! - 09-10-09, 10:57 PM

ok so my friend is natural redhead, i'd say prob a 6/7 base, not proper orange.... kinda strawberry . anyway she always has full head foils which i do with 12% and bleach..... she now wants to go full head blond(i have explained why its not a good idea) but she is certain
so.... what do i do?? i will not use 12% on scalp and i'm not sure tint will lift enough?!?
any ideas??? xxx

Hiya.

I have a friend with exactly the same sounding natural colour and I used high lift tint on her all over and it went really nice.

Try Wella 12/11 with extra ash, to neutralise the ginger tones. I used 40 VOL and left it on for well over an hour.

Failing that... if you do a head full of bleach, you can work through the hair in the usual 'hot cross bun' way...just applying the bleach to the natural colour. Alot of people do not like to do it this way, but it always works fine for me.

why not change the weaves to back to back slices? You dont say how long her hair is because if its above chin length you could bleach it but i think it could end up being a long process involving reapplying and toners.
t
you could use the 12/11 but it really depends on how light she wants it and again you might need to do a semi to blend the whole thing in

it's only a chin length bob that she wants cutting to the pob anyway!!
so quite a bit getting cut off the back!
mmmmmm... i'm doin it tommorow morning, i've bought 12/0 and 12/11 gonna use 12% i think all over.. then see what that is like and use a toner only if she feels it's too light!
hopefully she will like it xxxxx

i dont think it will go to light , i was thinking that the roots may ' glow' ive never had it happen , but have seen it happen to others , usually something like a 9.03 sorts it out though . should be nice .

how did it go?

High lift tint is made to use on the scalp with 30VOL & 40VOL....its only bleach that shouldnt 'really' be used with 40vol on the scalp....x

yeh , i had it for years with 18 % on my scalp , was always ok , just really depends on condition of hair and scalp and how much tone its going to throw up .But i guess my hair doesnt lift that well to have had it that strong( at college ,the tutor suggested it) as im a base 7/8.

yeah i have used 18% on myself on scalp and it was ok, bit irratated but worked,
anyway it went well, although it was a pain... i used 12/0 and 12/11 and 12% and left it for ages!! the roots lifted up great but had a slight darker banding for some reason anyway i washed it off and then did a few slices of bleach and 9% just at the top, the end result was nice,
just need to make sure she has her roots done regular so it lifts ok,
phewww!! glad its over with thanks guys xxxx

I used to have 12% on my scalp with bleach as i'm really dark. Then a toner. Did this every 3 weeks for 6 years! My head was fine! You just have to sometimes to get the lift you want. As long as she knows it won't be perfect the first couple of times, after then it'll come up but make sure you use a reconstructor too!
