Hair colour causes the hair to fall out?
I started losing my hair when I was 30, it was to the point where you did see my scalp with my hair dry. I have really curly hair, now I am 43 and you can see my scalp when my hair is wet but not at all when dry. The endrocrinologist put it down to stress, don't think I had any more stress than i do now, who knows! I have been colouring my hair this past year due to the lovely greys I notice. |

Whew, got me panting there for a bit!!
I used to straighten my hair in my younger days when I hated my curls. I often wonder if this was the reason for my hair loss then. But as we age, we just accept ourselves the best way we can and now I am content with my hair! |

Hi If you think your hair loss is more than it should be after reading Jennys Jiles advice .
Then take yourself off to your GP to rule out any thyroid or vitamin / mineral deficiency , It may even be a simple scalp problem that needs treating with a special shampoo or cream ect , but please don't self medicate as this can be dangerous x . |

Hair loss can be caused by many different things. Stress, medication, hormones etc can all cause the hair to thin.
You say its falling out when you wash it, is this the only time you notice it? remember you lose around 100 hairs a day as already mentioned but if you have stopped washing it/brushing it as often as you did you may have a build up of hair that needs to come out and this is why it could seem more when you wash it, but is really only normal hair loss. I had a baby nearly 7 months ago and my hair is falling out nearly to the point that I leave a trail of it behind me when I walk around (this is normal after having a baby) are you noticing it to this degree? Maybe you should speak to your stylist or your gp if your worried. As for your hair being oily there are some things which can help. Wash your hair in warm water not hot. Do not massage your scalp lots only a gentle rub to work the shampoo in you (if you are using a quality product you do not need to rub it hard) maybe leave it on to do its work. give an extra rinse in cool water. all these things can help slow the sebaceous glands that make oil. Paul mitchell n.o 2 shampoo is a quality shampoo for oily hair. Hth |

Hi I am a nail geek so I wont offer any hair advice, I have had alopecia for years now and only get the odd patch, now I am not saying that it was what you have but please go to the doctors there could be lots of reasons i.e. you might need vitamins or something like that but going to your docs is the best way. They may refer you to a dermatologist or tricologist, there are lots of myths out there so be careful. All the best and if you want to pm me about it please do as I know how this feels.

hair loss -

Hi
Louise has given a great reply. There are so many reasons for hair loss. One of the main causes of sudden hairloss is a thyroid imbalance (dont panick its rare!), a quick trip to your gp will rule this out. With all the colouring it could be just normal falling of hair with some breakage..this would be sorted out by some intense treatments either at home or done professionally. Joico Kpak is great for this. If however it is the start of diffuse thinning then you would be well advised to start using a range of products like Nioxin or Rejuvx. Both of these are said to grow thicker fuller hair and remove the daily cases of hair loss like DHT (Dihydrotestosterone). I do have a lot of experience with hairloss and its causes and would be glad to help more if you want to PM me |
