Exclaim Parts of a profile

In this handy, yet dandy infomercial I shall take you through the various parts of your member profile and how you can add, edit, or remove certain aspects of it.

The first two images show the top portion of a profile and the bottom section of my profile.
As I am "The Geek" as well as a Premium Geek, there are some options that will appear here that may not be available to you.

This tutorial is assuming that you are registered and logged in (otherwise you wouldnt even see the Quick Links menu).

A picture is worth 1,000 words

First off we have the avatar highlighted on the left. This is the picture that appears on all of your posts and can be edited by clicking Quick Links then Edit Avatar. From there you can choose to upload your own picture (there are size restrictions of 70x70 pixels though), you can upload your avatar from a web address, or you can choose one from the gallery (there is well over 100 in there).

The picture to the right is your profile picture. This option is available for Premium Geeks and allows you to put a larger picture within your profile for others to view. You can modify your profile picture by clicking Quick Links, then User Control Panel then Edit Profile Picture.

Your name, title and rank (but no serial number)

This attachment highlights your User Name, Title, Rank, and Reputation. All of these options accompany your posts as well as your Avatar.
Your User Name is the name you log in with and is pretty much set in stone. The title underneath your User Name is a title that is based on the amount of posts that you make. Premium Geeks can change their title to whatever suits their whim (and within bounds) by clicking Quick Links followed by Edit Profile. There you will see an option to use a custom title.

Your reputation is based on your fellow geeks ratings of you and your posts. The higher your reputation, the more little green blips appear. You can see your current reputation by hovering your mouse above the blip. It takes quite awhile to actually build up your reputation score.
You can disable your reputation by clicking Quick Links, then Edit Options... However... why bother?

I have just logged on and I am apparently "lurking geek"...? Is this to do with this section-
"Attachment 4 – Your name, title and rank
This attachment highlights your User Name, Title, Rank, and Reputation. All of these options accompany your posts as well as your Avatar.
Your User Name is the name you log in with and is pretty much set in stone. The title underneath your User Name is a title that is based on the amount of posts that you make. "

Cool Total novice

I'm very new at this & do not quite know what I'm doing yet so please be patient with me. I am very recently trained & am about to go mobile. Since my training finished I have felt very lonley & a bit frightened right up until I was put on to this site. I think The Nail Geek is brilliant & cannot now get off it. I read every newley trained geeks postings with relish & have learned such a lot from the replies. I have always known that you cannot beat experience & that is what we are all tapping in to on this site. I look forward to reading all postings & advice. Oh and by the way, I am 44 years old so it's never to late to learn.

Hi and welcome Tove, click on Forums, then choose which forum your thread is best suited to, ie Main for nails, then click New Thread at the top left hand side, choose a title that describes the query, write your text then click Submit Thread when you're done, if you need to change any of it then you can click Edit on your post and make the relevant changes.

how do I put a picture as my background in my control panel? I want to put a picture that I have put into my album. It gives me a URL address and an [IMG] address, I've tried both of those and it isn't working.

thanks.
