I've recently helped a couple of Geeks delete messages from their pagers as they were full to overflowing and couldn't use the pager until some of their messages were cleared... instead of passing the info on individually I thought it would be good to do a tutorial on how to use it!

Using the Pager

It appears quite confusing at first but it’s a fab instant messenger that’s available to Premium Geeks (another good reason to subscribe and help with the running costs of this excellent site).

How to Page another Geek

There’s three ways of paging your Geeky friends...

The first way is to view their profile and click the pager link in their contact info, the pager window then opens and you can write your message before hitting the Send Pager button…


The other option is by going to Quick Links, Open Pager; if the Geek you want to Page is online they will appear in the list. Tick the box next to their name and click on Page Users at the bottom.


The third option is to click the link in their posts.


From there, paging is simple. Enter your message and tick the Allow Reply box if you want to allow them to respond. Note that bbcode works in the pager too.


How to delete pager messages

This seems to be the part of the pager facility that peeps have difficulty with, here’s how to delete your stored Pager messages…

Click on Quick Links, Open Pager, the list of online members appears...


..at the top click on Online Members, on the drop down menu click Pager Messages...


... when this page opens you can see all of the messages you’ve received...
... if you want to delete all of the pager messages then tick the box above the word delete at the top right hand side (all of the messages turn pink), then scroll down to the bottom and click Delete Selected…

...if you only want to delete selected messages then tick the box to the right of those messages and scroll down to the bottom to click Delete Selected.
