Hello I'm new -
27-07-06, 09:26 PM
Hi there, I'm new to all this so probably posting in the wrong place completley!!! Someone point me in the right direction please?!!
I'm looking to start my own nail business or work in a salon - rent a table etc.. two children (one starts school september - one pre-school). I have looked at some "quick" training sites and am a bit suspicious (enails was one - but seeing comments on here will give it a wide birth!) Can anyone help point me in the right place - is college the best option , courses start in September and I'm looking to enrol. Thanks for any help Kat |

no not at all!! Am I mad? Worked in a admin positions since leaving school worked my way up and then had two children 4 and 2 now...
I've always been interested in doing this, but never had the confidence to go out and do something about it..but i think it's time I did something about it, but really don't have much of an idea where to start. As i say i've looked at some courses on the internet and i'm a bit worried about wasting my money... that's how i found this site. I want to do some research beforehand. Thanks Kat |

Yes it does thank you. Sounds like I'm in the same boat as you were. I'm not girly either but am still interested in doing other peoples nails.
Well done for qualifiying. What are you doing now? Do you work for yourself or at a salon? How long did it take to fully qualify then? Thanks for replying. Kat |

Hi!
I'm pretty much the same as you - always done admin, but never really felt fulfilled. Last year, I did VTCT in manicure and pedicure, then did a creative spa manicure & pedicure day (wow so loved that!!!) I am now working on my Creative L&P foundation course - I've learned so much, and really love it - just got the pass my exam (11th Aug). Speaking from experience, Creative have always been really good, both in training, advice and products. The foundation course covers such a lot. I would contact them and get a prospectus sent out - you won't regret it. Good luck ![]() |

Thanks that gives me a good idea of how long it's going to take. I am hoping to be qualified in time for my little girl to start "big school" which will be two years in september, so I can fit it in around family commitments.
The local college starts courses in September and i've just got the prospectus. Kat |

Hi Kat
I would also recommend the Creative Foundation course (12 days over 6 weeks). I just graduated 2 weeks ago and would definitely recommend it. Like you I've been in admin work since leaving school, I'm stilll keeping on my current admin job but definitely looking to hand in my notice as soon as I get enough clients. Hope you manage to get booked into a course soon. K xx |

Hi and welcome to the site... the Creative course in Scotland varies slightly to those in England, the number of days is different, but still the same fantastic quality of education
