Hello All,

I'm new to this site and hope you don't mind a neewbie sharing my situation with you all......

For the last 10 years I have worked in Offices. I am now at home on maternity leave (my youngest of 3 children is just 11 weeks old). I have known for quite a while that I'd love to train as a nail technician and have decided lately that I'm not going to go back to my job after my maternity leave I'm going to take the plunge and do my training.

Over the last few months, I have researched courses, products, etc. I have just booked myself on a manicure course next month followed by the 2 day Calgel course. My plan is to practice on willing friends and family to build my experience. In November, I will be doing a pedicure course and in the new year, I plan to do the Creative 5 day foundation course.

In April 2009 I stop receiving maternity pay and plan to start up my new business. I hope to work out of a local salon for 2/3 days per week and then work mobile for as much of the rest of the time as possible. I know it will be extremely difficult for a long time but can't help feeling so excited and enthusiastic about it all! I hope that I will have gained enough practice in between for this to be a reasonable time scale.

I have saved hard to be able to afford these courses. My uniform for now has had to be second hand off EBay. Yesterday I managed to pick up a "training hand" for a reasonable price as I'm hoping this will help my practice (hope you all agree?). All my money for now has gone into paying for my courses - with some put by for the kit I will need.

I am so excited by my new direction in life and finally feel like I have something to work towards. I have that many ideas whizzing around in my head about how I'd like things to go. I'm very determine to achieve this and honestly believe that I am finally going in the right direction with my life. I cannot believe what a change just making these decisions has made to how I feel.

I hope you will all be able to help me over the coming time as I'm sure that as I get into it there will be numerous questions I have.
