Good idea for a post, Collin!
Well, when I am looking at posts on the site, I select the option that shows everything in reverse chronological order (latest posts first) and tend to look at the more computery related ones, or ones that sound interesting. I do contribute to any thread that I think I can make a positive contribution to as well - particularly if the questions are chemistry related - as I am a chemistry graduate so can often help out there (e.g. the chemistry of spray tans is one of my fave topics there - dihydroxyacetone and the Maillard reaction)... |

I'm like Ruth, I click on whats new, and read through.
I scan the right hand column to look for skin geek and chit chat BUT also look at the thread titles, and have been known to gatecrash a few hair and nail geek discussions but generally point out that its not my expertise. So, in answer to your question Collin, I do the whats new, read through the 2-3 pages and click on titles that interest me. Then, I save the best to last and click on BLOGS and have a good 'snuggle down in the settee with a cuppa' and read up on what my friends are up to. I try and remember to scan the homepage to see if its anyones birthday and tend to send a visitor message unless a thread has already been started. I have had the good fortune to meet a few geeks in person, have spoken to a few on the phone, have been invited to stay at peoples houses and have had work opportunities presented to me. I have also had lovely pms from people. Best moments for me: oey announcing her news this week! Getting a special announcement on my birthday, that was awesome. |

I try and scan through as many posts/threads as possible...on any subject...but thats cos i am looking for anything that might need attention..(mod job..
I wouldn't try and give professional advise on a subject i wasn't trained in...but i have answered skin questions when it has been worded with "what do you use on your face" or there abouts...not when asked "what do you recommend for problem skin"...thats a pro question IMO |

Very interesting question there and some also interesting words used in your original post.
Do we really know anything about each other - hmm I used to think I did but just recently some people have really surprised me. I would like each and every one of us to think about our postings and if you can put your hand on your heart and honestly say that you would say that to a person face to face then go ahead and post it. I have met quite a few people on here, some anonymously - I knew who they were but they didnt know who I was and there have been a few occasions where the person in the flesh is totally different to the person behind the keyboard. But to answer what I think you are asking LOL - I do much the same as Angie, I first of all read through what is new from a mods point of view to make sure it is in line with the rules and then I answer any questions I feel "qualified" to answer. |

I read through the 'what's new in the last 24 hours'.
I read what catches my attention. I never read any of the nail threads cos i know nothing about them and i don't understand what they are talking about half the time! I see the word minx, and i think Minnie, i see the word poppits and i think of sweets. I reply to threads when i have something constructive to add. I ask questions too |

I tend to go everything new first, then read down the thread titles. I try to contribute if and where I can, on whatever type of thread. I dont often post a blog, but do read them. I feel blog land is where the meat gets put on the bones of people.
If I am in big rush, i can be in, scan threads and out in 10 mins flat! |

Do you find that if its a long thread with a number of postings that just because you read it when it was "new" and time has lapsed and you decide to have another look because there is apparently something going on and its now 4 pages long that you skip to the back end of the thread and just read the last few postings to get a quick flavour of whats been going on...then do a posting based on the back end only of the thread despite the fact that its probably way of at a tangent by now?. Maybe this accounts for why so many threads sometimes go off at a complete tangent and that the original posting or "rational" behind it is actually lost and not answered??? A bit like ive done right now to this one |

I go here, there and everywhere! This site is addictive and there is so much to do and read and see and learn. I contribute mostly in the nail forums b/c that is my field, but I do reply to posts in other sections if I feel I've got something to contribute.
