Photos to be 10 x 8 please as this is perfect. Thy can be in a frame but there is no extra points for this. Also we plan to put them all up on a big screen at Excel so a heavy frame is a pain!
Jac, ta for your pm, its a good point, i will go through the judges sheets for the last photo comp in the morning and put up a post to guide everyone through the possible score. Models can be any age, but as everyone have to be over 16 to enter the exhibition, models should also be over 16 in case they dont let them enter on the day. You may get away ith a 14/15 year old. Let me know the age if its very young and we may be able to get special permission??? |

Hi Rachel,
Will the pics be available for the public to see this time? I was disappointed not to be at the awards ceremony at the last one I entered (I was ill) where the theme was Halloween. Id still love to see the pic that took first place but as far as I know it has never been printed anywhere. Its a personal gripe of mine that despite the amount of effort involved in creating the pics we get to see little of the entries...even the winners. |

Oh def!!! All that work, i would want a front cover!
I have spoken to Kat and have asked for a lot more coverage of the winners pics. The Halloween theme was a difficult one for a front cover as the mag works 2-4 months in advance, so the halloween pic would be used in Feb/ March, not great timing. But its on file and im sure will be used in the future. I would also like more info in the mag on how to produce a good shot. Kat has made a great start with with this with an article from Sam Biddle, whos work is amazing. (Plus she is a great lady) So its a start. This time we will have a big screen and i will be putting up all the pics on the monday morning so that everyone can see them, this is why i would prefer no frames. Just one 10x8 pic from each entrant is fab. I think there are lots of entries for this one!! |

This may sound obvious to some and maybe not to others. If you or a friend are taking the photograph using your shiny new digital camera, remember to take it at the highest resolution possible, read your camera manual for instructions on how to do this. Dont take a picture and then try to 'stretch' it out to the required size, it will look rubbish when printed.
Take some time out ---->now<----- to find out some of the features that your camera has, ie, how to adjust for lighting, white balance, etc. Start practicing --->now<--- with different backgrounds, camera angles, etc. Use a tripod when shooting. Get your photo(s) printed at the local photo developer for a professional finish. |
