I shall be offering it in the future. Just doing the Essential Nails Airbrushing course. Quite like the course as it seems very comprehensive, and airbrushing appeals to me as my hand painted nail art leaves a lot to be desired.

I LOVE Airbrushing -
07-09-08, 12:24 AM
I have been aribrushing since 1994 and since it a novelty where I live there is a high demand for it and I have a very uniques style. As with anything in business I suggest that you look into how much you are going to spend to get started and then how are you going to make your money back. Also I wanted to let you know that I have been using the same paint and stencils for over 14 years now. I had to replace the white and buy new airbrush cleaner and accessories, a compressor over time but it is really easy to do and puts a smile on my clients faces.

airbrushing not profitable! -
15-09-08, 09:37 PM
I first introduced airbrushing around 8 years ago, it was not popular at all therefore not profitable. We stuck with it for a few years but the small percentage of clients who like nail art eventually all moved over to hand-painted as a preference.

I would like to offer it for fancy French but my area is really conservative and 50% my clientele are 50+ and I really don't think there would be any call for the amazing patterns etc that are possible.
When you think that to buy all the equipment and do a course is going to cose at least £500, I think I would be 10 years even recouping my costs. So its a no from me. |

I always airbrush my nails and I get loads of comments on them from people while I am out and about and often clients ask can they have a fade or similar art to that on my nails.
About 30% of my clients have airbrush designs regularly and I charge a max of £1.50 a nail for airbrush designs as they can be very complicated with fades, stensils and diamantes etc. Basically I think it's like any service if you market it in a bit way then it will start to become popular with your clients. |

I offer Air brushed Nails but get little demand for designs. I do a lot of Air brushed French toes in the summer. It takes me 25 mins and I charge £12.50. If the client wants I add Nailtopia 3d flower stickers just below the white and charge £15.
I have my regulars (mainly nurses) who come back each summer for this. It can last up to 6 weeks if they topcoat regularly. It is quick, easy and effective, appeals to clients who like thier toes pink and white but do not or don't want too pay £30 for acrylic or gel pink & whites. I have 4 Airbrushed French toes to do today for a wedding party. I find that when they pay £35 (my price) for extensions and want thier toes done also, they go for the cheaper option. I like to offer different options too clients to suit their budget. |

I have ordered the airbrushing kit from Essential Nails, and looking forward for it to arrive so I can start learning. I calculated that I need 43 clients that pays 15€ for getting their nails brushed, to cover the costs of the kit.
There are not many who offers airbrush nails in Finland so that is an advantage as well as a disadvantage ( need to educate the clients ). I am very excited about this service, and I know that enthusiasm catches... so I am positive that I can sell the service. Warmly Annette |

I offer an airbrush service in the salon I have just started work in and there has been a great response to it. The service hasn't been offered in the salon before I started and come to think of it, it wasn't offered in the salon I worked in whilst training until I bought the stuff and offered it. Anyway, I digress, I don't know of any other salon in the area that offers an airbrush art service appart from the NSS down the road that uses an airbrush to spray the tips on (not really art eh!) I feel that airbrushing is a valuable service to offer to clients, as its a quick an easy way (once you get the hang of it) of really showing off your artistic flair. I do find tho that you need quite a bit of space around the desk to be able to do it - or maybe that's just me lol! I'd love to see it become more popular in our area and will make it my personal challenge to make it so - onward and upward I say! |

Hi Alex,
I'm starting an airbrushing course as i've not long started working for myself and non of the other salons in my town offer this service. I thought it would be good to offer something original that not all salons can offer. I also love to learn anything new and have got my friends lined up to be my guinea pigs |
